Your new role

As the Senior Cyber Platform Engineer you will work with the team to manage, maintain (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability) evolve and support a set of IT Security Monitoring and Management Applications. These systems are used by Cyber Defence Centre (SOC), Insider Threat Management and other Technology teams, for the detection and prevention of Cyber Attacks that could compromise our systems and data.

The main responsibility of this role will be to further develop the Cyber SOAR Orchestration application and provide operational support with the clients SIEM, Staging Service, and Endpoint Detection. The role also includes ensuring that the platforms are fully operational, configured and handled within tolerable limits which meet operational growth, and availability and to ensure customer satisfaction with all IT Services provided by the team.

This role requires hands on experience in operational security activities or a keen desire to learn, as well as good interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to produce clear documentation and concise reporting. Experience in engaging with both internal stakeholders and with third party suppliers will be vital. A service orientated and customer focused approach is key, being results driven, driving service improvements and adding value.

What you'll need to succeed


Your profile

  • A strong interest in Cyber Security, with the holding of relevant qualifications being a distinct advantage (e.g., CISSP, SSCP, Security+, Windows Certifications, Cloud Security Certifications or ITIL v3).
  • Understanding of SIEM Technologies and other security solutions; Carbon Black, NCASE, GitHub, Jenkins, Endpoints, Plunk, Sentinel, SOAR
  • Scripting knowledge using PowerShell, Perl, MS SQL, and Python, Linux
  • Experience of successfully working collaboratively within project teams, delivering to multiple customers.
  • Networking troubleshooting experience with Wintel and Linux Operating systems.
  • Database troubleshooting experience with MS SQL and Oracle
  • Solid grasp of the OSI model, associated protocols, especially TCP-IP.
  • Solid understanding of PKI and how to debug a failed TLS conversation
  • Ability to translate business requirements into functional product improvements.



Set yourself apart from the crowd

  • Understanding of Cloud technologies and a keen desire to learn more about these.
  • ITIL Foundation knowledge (incidents, work requests and changes)
  • Configuration experience using Dev Ops tools.
  • Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recover execution
  • Experience of integrating 3rd party management toolsets and emerging technologies including Cloud and SOAR.



Communication

  • It is essential you can communicate advice clearly and persuasively and can present compelling arguments both written and spoken.
  • You will have experience in building good relationships at all levels across stakeholder groups and partner organisations
  • You will be able to work effectively in cross-functional teams with both business and technical stakeholders
