NATS is the UK's leading air navigation service provider, handling over 2 million flights each year. It provides air traffic control services from two control centres supporting airports all around the UK, as well as a wide range of commercial solutions to over 30 countries internationally.

The Cyber Risk and Information Security team are looking for an Information / Cyber Security professional to support them in providing Security Assurance to the NATS business.

This is a varied role which will suit candidates with a range of cyber interests. The role enables the business by providing advice, guidance, and support to the other cyber functions, all of which can be varied and responsive as well as strategic.

An ideal opportunity for someone that wants to develop into a cyber management role. Full support will be given to developing their soft skills as well as building their cyber and information security experience.

Candidates should have a minimum of 18 months experience of working in an information/ cyber security role, ideally with experience of implementing or assessing the design and effectiveness of security controls and associated processes.

Primary duties will include:

Providing assurance to the Business that security controls have been appropriately designed and are operating effectively through a wide range to activities, including;

  • The performance of assurance reviews using industry standards such as ISO27002, CIS, NIST etc
  • Identifying Third Party Supplier risk
  • Running phishing simulations

Supporting external certification / audits as required (for example ISO27001, CE and CE+)

Providing support to the wider Cyber Risk and Information Security department in areas such as Security Risk Assessment, Governance, Security Architecture, Cyber Threat Intelligence, Security Behaviour and awareness etc, as required


Essential skills and experience:

A self-starter with a broad cyber-security mindset and good attention to detail

Able to consider issues from the technical, process and business perspective

Methodical and articulate in their approach

Ability to communicate and explain risk to all levels within the organisation

Have a pragmatic attitude to the implementation of security controls across a safety-critical business.

Proven ability to build relationships and influence across an organisation through good written and verbal communication skills.

A good understanding of the techniques required to identify, quantify, and address information security or cyber risk in an organisation.

Relevant and recognised industry qualification are desirable but not essential.
