Job description
The KPMG Cyber Response Services (CRS) team is growing, and a requirement has been identified for an operations manager. The incident response manager role will report directly and work closely with the head of cyber response. Cyber security is one of the areas which KPMG has identified for tremendous investment and growth. Our clients face a challenging cyber threat and look to us to help them understand and respond to that threat.

This is a hands-on and operational management role with opportunities to grow into service line leadership. The successful candidate is expected to oversee a broad range of cyber-security incident cases, oversee the management of the cyber response team and help advance KPMG's incident response processes and methodologies through project management.

In this role we are looking for a person who can demonstrate a strong operations and project management. You will be expected to lead a number of incident response case managers and practitioners, as well as have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, the service leadership as part of your continuous development.

When not responding to incidents, you may be helping our clients to build their in-house incident response capabilities, which could include: building and developing cyber-response tools, authoring and adapting runbooks/playbooks, assessing the incident response maturity, assisting in table-top cyber-scenario exercises. When not engaged in client work, you will be helping to develop our own delivery capability, including operational efficiency, standard operating procedures, team learning and development, tooling and platforms, lab development and orchestration.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate the cyber response team operations. Have oversight of all current cases and ensure that priority and mandatory tasks are completed and working closely with the head of cyber response to provide regular status updates.
  • Track revenue and financials for the cyber response team and ensure project status, financials and billing is correctly managed.
  • Project manage the development of KPMG's in house cyber-response tools and seek areas of improvement by liaising with the team and scoping new projects, defining work streams, allocating resources and supervising progress.
  • Assist the head of cyber response to manage the members of the cyber response team, monitor utilisation and provide advice on resourcing requirements.
  • Where necessary, act as a point of contact between the client and the cyber response team, providing status updates and linking the client to the global KPMG cyber response team.
  • Ability to generate well-structured responses to bids and requests for proposals.
  • As a new role, there is an expectation to identify further responsibilities to assist the day to day operations of the team.

  • Strong project management techniques including decision-making ability, analytical skills, time management, prioritisation, organisation and evaluative skills.
  • Shows initiative, resilience and is able to multitask in a pressurised environment.
  • The ability to communicate with senior levels of management and offshore teams.
  • The desire to work in a diverse environment and gain exposure to an international working environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • A genuine interest and desire to develop and mentor junior team members.
  • Strong attention for detail and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous cases.

Qualifications and Skills
The successful candidate will have had previous experience in either an operations or chief of staff role and managing technically specialised teams. The desired skills and qualifications are provided below:
  • The ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals both internally and externally at different seniority levels.
  • Experience of budgeting and resource allocation procedures would be desirable.
  • Strong IT literacy, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • A project management qualification would be desirable but not essential.
  • Mature, self-sufficient and proactive, with the ability to work independently as well as being a team player.
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to produce work to tight deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Background or previous experience in cyber security would be advantageous but not essential.
