Job Title : Assistant Manager - Project and Performance (HR Advisory Team)
Location - Watford

The operation consists of an onshore people operations team, an offshore BPO provider and an internal outsource. (Circa 200 staff in total)
The HR Advisory team resides within People Operations and has a Capability aligned structure that supports the Firm. HR Advisory provides expert guidance and training to the Line (where applicable) in Employee Relations and Absence Casework alongside support offered on cyclical activities such as Promotions & salary and bonus .

The Advisory team is key in supporting the Firm in the administration of organisational transformation(including TUPE and restructure and redundancies) partnering with the Firm and the broader People Function to deliver the change

Role Description
This role requires Leadership in the following key areas:
  • Change Projects
  • Operational hands on management of some complex case work and escalations
  • Continuous improvement (including SOPS, Process Maps, RACCM, creation and maintenance of dashboards and automation)
  • MI and Reporting( Performance Management monthly reporting, coordination of Capability Insightful Analytics, ad hoc reporting requests) working in partnership with People Tech and COE/ broader People function to deliver
  • Continuous development (of the Advisory Team) to ensure the foundations of the Advisory role and that the teams skills set is current and refreshed on an ongoing basis. This role will design and deliver upskill working partnering with ELAT or Learning Function to achieve this where applicable.
  • Additional support to upskill Leaders in the broader Firm where applicable

This role is key as Workstream Lead in supporting the effective delivery of change projects that require support from People Operations. Leading a team of Advisors (current and ad hoc Project resource), this individual will work closely with the HR Advisory Manager and the Project Lead to ensure:
The transformation is understood - timescales, requirements, in scope populations, terms of redundancy if applicable, key stakeholder relationships are established, resource to deliver the change (with associated budget where applicable) is understood and workforce planning requirements if applicable are scoped for consideration

All redundancy calculations, appropriate scripts, letters and documentation is fit for purpose and delivered by the team under this Leadership as and when required. Working with Internal Legal and Project Leadership to understand the detail
Partnering with colleagues across People Operations in Employee Lifecycle and Resourcing Operations to ensure the details of each Project are understood in a timely manner to ensure appropriate resource planning and ensuring key stakeholders are engaged and understand timescales for effective delivery

Acting as technical expert and challenging and driving the pace of change where applicable flagging risks and issues as appropriate
Updating action logs and PM materials where applicable and attending regular meetings to provide updates on progress and making amends where applicable based on projet direction

This role is critical in ensuring that all critical processes and ways of working are updated and understood. Key role in supporting the HR Advisory team to update and review. Training new Joiners on ways of working using SOPS and Maps to achieve will form part of this role
Partnering with PeopleTech Colleagues and Wellbeing to create dashboards to clearly articulate Insight and data for the Firm partnering with Recruitment Operations to drive consistency based on work already undertaken in dashboard creation.
Drive continuous improvement and review of automation including who and when should receive which report and where self serve can replace reporting. Provide training to enable this if applicable ie Jira guidance for Leaders to support self serve

Lead all MI and Reporting partnering with People Tech to deliver the monthly PM Pack and Wellbeing dashboard
Capture time spent on ad hoc reporting requests to support a more timely, insightful and fit for purpose solution. Ensure focus is on Insight provision and not data generation through automated reporting and redirection to DRP requests

Work with HR Advisory Manager in conjunction with HR Leads and Learning to carve out a training path within Advisory to build a continued fit for purpose pipeline and to assist in talent retention
Partner with Legal for regular legal upskill
Work with 3rd Parties AXA and Aviva to refresh team understanding and address gaps as and when
Partner with other Assistant Managers in Advisory to look at potential upskill opportunity for the Line in Performance Management and Absence Management

  • Strong project and change management skills providing a sense of purpose and direction.
  • Excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex ideas in a focussed, simple and commercially relevant manner
  • Ability to thrive in high pressure environment
  • Able to operate independently and as a team player
  • SAP / Success Factors and ServiceNow experience would be an advantage in this role
  • Conversant with Word, Excel
  • Professional services / partnership led sector skills are desirable but not essential. Candidates from outside this sector will need to be self-aware and able to make a sector transition.
