Your new role
As a Network Engineer, your job is to manage, support and develop the organisations Cisco Network. Working with the Senior IT Team, you will provide input into IT planning and projects, together with responsibility for delivery of a high-quality IT network to users. The Network Engineer is a pivotal member of the IT team and will support the department in delivering an excellent network service and infrastructure facilities. You will perform key duties and report to the Infrastructure Manager. You will be responsible for the support of IT Network, which will include;
  • The following IT infrastructure; Cisco Network, Wired and Wireless connectivity, Security gateways, Institute Computer rooms, and skype for business/Teams (Office 365)
  • To liase with the Senior IT Team on the maintenance and development of the organisation's network, to support the delivery of safe, secure IT services
  • Building and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure our requirements are met and we maintain value for money in the product, support or service that is supplied
  • To ensure that appropriate measures are taken to secure and backup all systems and data; assist to develop and implement any plans, systems and measures necessary to support business community.
  • To maintain up-to date knowledge of developments in the IT marketplace and use this knowledge to support the longer-term strategic vision of the IT Department.
You will also support the organisations project delivery, assisting in IT projects and providing project support of key projects.

What you'll need to succeed
We are looking for candidates with the following skills, qualifications and experience;
  • At least 2 years experience as a CISCO Network Engineer (Wired and Wireless experience)
  • LAN experience
  • DELL experience
  • VMWare experience
  • Previous experience of virtualised server environments
  • Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies (Networking, Server, Backup and resilience, Email, VDI, Information Security)
  • Teams Networking
  • Monitoring network performance, availability and integrity
  • Proactively suggest improvements to Network performance, capacity and scalability.
  • Follow Change Control Processes
  • Ability to operate under pressure, meet tight deadlines and influence decisions
  • A consultative approach to all major activities and projects. Including the ability to effectively and accurately document requirements and develop clear execution plans
  • Provide basic Firewall administration support, making appropriate policy changes as required by the business
  • Good communicator (Written and oral) with sound facilitation skills that can be related to colleagues of all levels including contractors
