Your new role

The Mobile Innovations Labs department is responsible for Prototyping and developing new devices, technologies and services, through end to end lab environments and live trials.

We are fundamental to Improving and leading vendor ecosystem pre-standards adoption of new technologies.
Achieving this by.
• Integration: Design, validation and tech ready approval, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and ready for launch.
• Incubation: Optimisation, in-life assurance and service evolution.
• Ensuring that solutions deliver business requirements in live service.
• Partnering with the business teams to develop the service roadmap

You will have the following responsibilities:

• Accountable for defining and building the architectural strategy for Technology Innovation Labs, including live service alignment.
• Accountable for maintaining the architectural principles that satisfy both the internal project demand enabling high quality assurance, proof of concepts and external partnerships and customer service delivery.
• Ownership of the relationship between Innovation labs and design/architectural teams both internally and externally
• Responsible for design of cross functional IP & Backhaul solutions to meet the brief of the team or project, including strategic recommendation on value added services and or/guidance on short term cross functional tactical designs.
• Responsible for designing and driving the adoption of emerging technologies for proof of concept activities.
• Responsible for designing and facilitating opportunities to sell labs as a service.

What you'll need to succeed

• In depth senior level technical expertise in mobile & fixed telecommunications industry in the role of a senior designer or principle engineer, with business critical, high availability/high throughput systems and networks.
• Substantial evidence of delivering and developing market-leading solutions as required by the business
• Good market knowledge of the mobile communication industry, Knowledge of emerging technologies, best practice and customer requirements in the telecoms arena.
• Evidence of successful negotiating skills, particularly around changing stakeholders opinion
• Breadth of experience across technical IP and Backhaul domains in mobile and fixed communication technologies.
• Ability to represent highly complex technical issues to a non-technical, senior decision making, audience.
• The ability to understand and track the key technical issues and solutions for multiple, highly complex, project deliveries.
• The ability to visualise the end-to-end design of solutions, and work with SME’s to realise a solution.
• Ability to work with incomplete requirement specifications, resolving ambiguities via discussions with the originating functions (eg Marketing, Wholesale, Products etc).
• Knowledge of industry best practice methodologies for analysing, defining and documenting the link between input business requirements and output technical solutions.
