Department Information
Do you want to make a difference to KPMG's biggest and most important opportunities? As part of our Pursuits Team, you'll be supporting teams across KPMG through the end-to-end process of winning work. We help with everything from identifying client issues and positioning KPMG through to producing exciting proposal documents and compelling pitches.
You'll be working with the most senior and influential stakeholders from across the firm on a daily basis. Building relationships, networking and growing your knowledge at the same time. We come together as a team to sell the newest, most innovative tools and solutions to the biggest organisations in the world. Our work gives KPMG the edge to win in a competitive, crowded market.

Role and Responsibilities
Do you want to use the power of writing to help us grow and win more business? Do you have the skills it'll take to translate formal, convoluted consultancy-speak into clear, simple and effective language? Can you help deliver bid documents that differentiate our offer?

You'll be involved in:
  • Editing large proposal documents to make sure the key messages come through clearly, the tone is consistent throughout and follows our style guide, and there are no errors in sight.
  • Writing executive summaries to capture the key proposition clearly and concisely.
  • Helping structure our responses to both answer RFP/ITT questions and tell a compelling story.
  • Drafting and editing content to respond to RFP/ITT templates, which may have strict limits on word counts and format, while still getting our messages and story across.
  • Regularly interviewing partners and directors to get content, then using this content to write compelling sales propositions.
  • Challenging others to think differently about their communications - both the content and the tone of voice.
  • Championing clear, simple writing across sales and the whole of KPMG in the UK.
  • Proactively sharing creative ideas about language with the wider Sales & Marketing team.

Role-style
  • Have excellent writing/editing skills and ability to clearly explain linguistic concepts within a text.
  • Have meticulous attention to detail.
  • Be able to give practical guidance on writing to others in an encouraging, inclusive fashion.
  • Have the ability to work successfully with multiple groups on different projects at the same time, and juggle lots of different tender documents in a fast-paced, competitive environment
  • Have a passion for motivating and educating others.
  • Challenge the more traditional view that formal language makes you sound 'professional'.
  • Have the self-confidence and drive to challenge and influence people at all levels.
  • Communications: able to get consensus and collaboration across many business units; able to explain complex concepts in simple language; able to generate enthusiasm; able to communicate with all levels of management and staff.
  • Teamwork: able to establish straightforward, productive relationships; treat all individuals with fairness and respect and maintain high standards of personal integrity; ability to collaborate with others in the Pursuits Team and across boundaries; acknowledge others' contributions; work effectively with diverse teams; willing to seek help.
  • Learning and knowledge sharing: open to new ideas; shares own knowledge; applies knowledge in daily work; builds partnerships to learn and share knowledge.

Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience of writing/editing business communications.
  • Communications, branding and professional services background preferred.
  • Some exposure to sales/winning work through a competitive process.
  • Skills & knowledge
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including partners
  • Strong Microsoft skills (including PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual and hybrid environment
