Development Lead - Salary £50,000 to £60,000

We are seeking experienced developer/project manager or technical person with some leadership experience to join our team here at Aviva.

A bit about the job:
The Development Lead combines technical knowhow with SME knowledge of data, the wider technological landscape and internal and external process to ensure consistency of our developments across ETL/Warehousing/BI deliverables acting as a control and governance point across multiple developments guiding, influencing, and supporting technical leads and developers with technical and SME oversight.

You will mainly be responsible for managing five to ten projects, guiding/mentoring the technical team, and providing overall governance over the workload. This is a great opportunity to provide leadership and oversight of development within a data environment.

Aviva uses "smart-working", and the person in this role can be based anywhere within the UK commutable to an Aviva office.

Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • Process driven, able to influence and evolve processes as needed.
  • Good understanding of development practises (waterfall/agile).
  • Good awareness of cloud technology, data leaks & high data volume processing.
  • Ability to gain a level of understanding of code written in scripting languages such as Python, Scalla, Java etc.
  • Well versed in all areas of software development lifecycles.
