Hays Technology are working with a well-known organisation in Birmingham to recruit a Senior Cyber Security Engineer on a permanent basis.

The purpose of this role is to operate as the lead in all matters relating to Information Security and technical advisor to business stakeholders, ensuring security requirements are considered in new projects and business change. You will also support in the protection of all systems and data, with a proactive focus on protecting the information entrusted by our customers.

Main responsibilities:

• Ownership for the delivery of the strategic and tactical roadmap to implement IT security improvements.
• Working as a bridge between security, Service Delivery, Business Systems and Development teams; involved in monitoring, reporting, auditing, reviewing and pro-actively improving cyber security.
• The identification and resolution of day-to-day IT security issues and activities in IT security projects. Working with the wider IT team, the IT Technical Security Engineer is expected to research, diagnose and resolve any IT security incidents proactively and reactively, and aid problem resolution.
• Perform vulnerability scans on networks, servers, systems and applications, reviewing output and supporting any resolution as required.
• Conduct technical security audits and perform technical risk assessments.
• Undertake regular monitoring of security systems, including the IDS/IPS, web filtering, malware protection, data loss prevention, authentication logs other security controls.
• Lead in incident response activities from detection, through analysis to response and recovery.
• Monitor and respond to threat reports and security alerts from internal and external sources.
• Monitor and report on the use of privilege account management systems and conduct periodic access reviews as required.
• Keep abreast of the cyber security threats and review threat intelligence information
• Maintain the security operational procedure documentation.
• Support projects and change delivery to ensure that security by design is incorporated into the proposed solution.

In order to apply, you must have the following experience:

• Demonstrable experience working in a technical Cyber Security related role.
• Extensive experience and knowledge of working with security toolsets (such as firewalls, anti-virus, IPS / IDS, SIEM, Microsoft Security toolsets etc.).
• Previous experience of managing third-party service providers.
• Working knowledge / experience of working with cloud security architecture.
• A strong working knowledge of security standards and methodologies such as ISO27001, Cyber Essentials, and ITIL and an understanding of relevant data protection legislation.
• Previous experience of acting as IT Security SME during projects, from planning phase through to benefit realisation.
