Description of the role
Working with the RCA Team Leader and Head of RCA you will take responsibility for the delivery of specific root cause projects. As part of this role you will:
  • Develop project proposals for approval by Audit Leadership covering all stages of the RCA process;
  • Lead the data collection phases of the RCA process identifying and evaluating relevant inputs;
  • Developing insights and hypotheses from the review of inputs and leading the creation of interview plans;
  • Lead interview processes supporting RCA team members deliver interviews and challenging them on their findings;
  • Prepare initial root cause considerations for review and challenge within the RCA team;
  • Lead challenge panels with SMEs and business representatives to refine and prioritise root causes;
  • Work with the RCA Team Leader, Remediation Leader and senior stakeholders to support the development of proposed remedial actions;
  • Support the RCA Team Leader develop reporting to the Audit Quality Council and Audit Leadership for project approval;
  • Support the Remediation Leader in their assessment of the effectiveness of actions taken and the development of modified or additional actions as required.

Essential experience
  • Knowledge of root cause process is desirable but any candidate not already KPMG accredited to perform RCA will undergo appropriate training;
  • Ability to project manage within frameworks to demonstrate policy compliance;
  • Ability to be empathetic with individuals addressing adverse quality outcomes whilst challenging in interviews to ensure the underlying root causes are understood. The ability to ask difficult questions in non-threatening/non-judgemental ways is critical;
  • Strong understanding of audit process and audit requirements required to ensure the problem definition;
  • Ability to process and assimilate unstructured (and potentially contradictory) information from multiple sources;
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead stakeholder meetings to deliver conclusions;
  • Ability to prepare and present reports and debate content with senior stakeholders.

Essential qualifications
  • Professional accounting qualification is beneficial due to need to understand audit and professional services individuals with other relevant skills and experience would be considered
