Role Purpose:


We have a great opportunity for a Quality Manager based within our Wolverhampton site. To manage and develop a team of like-minded individuals focused on customer satisfaction, and driving a zero defect policy within Assembly, Test and Manufacturing functions using our LEAN & ACE toolsets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that all are focused on customer satisfaction and the customer requirements are understood and exceeded.
  • Focus on development of your Quality Team
  • Review, define and Improve key processes to reduce variation and improve process capability, using ZDP™ tools.
  • Take control of product to drawing / specifications
  • Drive site Quality/Improvement systems and initiatives - AS9100, Audit Programme and improvement plans.
  • Ensure compliance to all relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Be a key internal and external customer contact acting as SME on Quality.
  • Lead structured problem solving teams to ensure containment, root cause analysis and corrective actions are in place
  • Be involved in advanced Quality Planning on new programmes
  • Zero Defect Plan (ZDP™) and UTC Production Parts Approval Process (UPPAP) application to improve quality performance
  • Ensure adherence to the Quality Management System (QMS) and compliance to Collins Ethics, Export control, and Environmental Health and Safety in the Quality team.
Experience and Skills:
  • Educated to HNC or Degree Level in a technical discipline.
  • Previous experience of working as a Quality Manager within a Manufacturing organisation, alternatively a role with significant quality involvement (e.g. Engineering, Supply Chain).
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems and to facilitate improvement teams.
  • Skilled in the use of problem-solving tools including fault trees/5 whys/fishbone diagrams.
  • People Management experience with a proactive, positive approach, and enjoy leading a diverse and dynamic team.
  • Drive and enthusiasm with a positive outlook and a desire to succeed.
  • Enjoy building strong stakeholders' relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Bring confidence, be open honest and have the ability to anticipate potential blockers to success.
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate effectively with suppliers, customers, both internal and external at all levels.
  • Be willing to travel and to work flexible hours to support business requirements.
  • Good Aerospace product knowledge (processes, manufacturing techniques, quality requirements) would be desirable although not essential.
  • Six Sigma/Lean practitioner certification would be advantageous.
