KPMG's Technology Risk Consulting team is focused on providing consultancy, advice and assurance on our clients' technology risks and controls. The market is evolving at pace and innovating, whilst embracing the digital age. We deliver our work through consulting projects, focused on risk and control assurance, supporting teams across the 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines of defence. Through our Connected Consulting model, we work closely with other service lines to deliver end-to-end transformation programmes for our Clients.
 
The team
The role will sit within the Corporates Technology Risk team and support the newly formed UK Corporate Governance Reform team which brings together several of our Consulting service lines to build a market leading Controls Framework offering for our Clients. The new offering will work with Clients to strengthen their internal governance and controls environment taking them beyond compliance and positioning internal controls at the centre of business transformation to drive operating efficiency and effectiveness.
 
The role
You will work to support UK Corporate Governance Reform focus to achieve the following outcomes:
  • Delivery of corporate governance and internal control transformation programmes for clients : manage multi-workstream client engagements throughout their lifecycle, from identification of an opportunity, to completing KPMG's internal risk procedures, to delivery of the engagement, and closure
  • Further development of our corporate governance reform offering: lead the build of KPMG specific assets or areas of methodology as part of our wider strategy to bring our Controls Framework proposition to the market
  • Responding to RFPs and bids for client projects: bid manage responses to Client RFPs, bringing together the best of KPMG from consulting and beyond to showcase our solutions and capabilities in response to a Client challenge
 
Daily tasks are expected to include:
  • Developing lasting client relationships and nurture a network of external stakeholders
  • Provide compelling and well thought out solutions to complex Client problems
  • Manage and shape the delivery of technology risk consulting services to Clients, demonstrate professional scepticism and focus on the management and mitigation of existing and emerging technology risks.
  • Lead the planning, scoping, delivery, risk management, production, and review of Client deliverables
  • Support business development initiatives including identifying, qualifying and pursuing revenue generating opportunities, preparing proposals and attending pitches.
  • Support and influence service offering development, operations, training and knowledge management.
  • Build and maintain lasting relationships with Client technology leaders (CIO, Head of Technology Risk, CRO, Head of Information Security, COO).
  • Coach and develop junior members of the team with a focus on producing quality outputs.
  • Seek out challenges and demonstrate and share industry / technical expertise.
 
Skills, qualifications, and experience
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate:
  • Understanding of IT risk and controls and impact on the business control environment
  • Experience of managing technology risk consulting projects at leading companies, or in a consulting setting
  • Experience of leading multi-functional teams
  • Experience of managing business and IT stakeholders from across the company at senior management levels
  • Ability to identify and assess complex existing and emerging technology risks, relate them to the wider business context and express opinions clearly
  • Understanding of risks and controls relating to the governance and management of enterprise IT
  • Understanding of the emerging UK regulatory framework on internal controls, and the impact to Clients
  • Understanding of technology platforms and existing and emerging technology risks (e.g. Cyber, Cloud, Outsourcing, 3rd Parties, Data Privacy, Resilience, Robotics etc.)
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure, servers, operating systems, databases, networking, security concepts and technologies
  • Ability to present on specific subjects to large audiences, both technical and non-technical
  • Proven analytical skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances
  • Business development experience (e.g. involvement in large tenders / proposals)
  • Proven track record of compliance with quality standards, ability to balance timely delivery with appropriate levels of quality and compliance
  • Aptitude for embracing and adapting to new technologies and challenges
  • Ability to identify opportunities to add value to clients and work with colleagues in other areas of the business to solve client challenges
  • Ability to work flexibly to accommodate tight timelines and excel under pressure
  • Experience of fee negotiations and negotiating scope changes
