Job Purpose:

This is an exciting opportunity to lead the Airbus Legacy programs (A320 family, A321ceo/neo, A321neoXLR, A330, A400M) engineering activities - a challenging and diverse role working with both Liebherr and Airbus and interfacing with a number of disciplines across Secondaries.

This will be a dynamic and challenging role where no two days are the same. You will be accountable for all the Post Certification Engineering activities on the Airbus aircraft programs, reporting directly to the Product Support Program Chief.

This is an end to end product lifecycle role - working alongside the Product Support IPTL you will liaise with the Production Support Chief to ensure any production issues are consolidated into design changes, improvements or trade studies. You will deal directly with the customer, working on product improvements, co-ordinating documentation delivery and advising on the most appropriate solutions to their problems. And you will support the Aftermarket organisation with airline queries, investigations and ensuring that lessons learnt are effectively captured to ensure the success of our future products.

You will be responsible for leading resources from the Functional teams to deliver reliably and consistently to our demanding customers. But you will also be expected to deliver on your commitments whilst upholding our values and behaviours; setting the example with proactivity, engagement, integrity, and transparency and with a willingness to support and develop all of those around you.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical leadership and direction for the Airbus legacy programs, working under the supervision of the Product Support Chief and with a 'dotted line' to the Production Support Chief
  • Be the customer-facing technical focal point, providing expertise and advice, but also pushing back where you feel that the Company's best interests are not being prioritised
  • Develop strong and trusting relationships, both internal and external, and ensure our customers are the focus of everything that we do
  • Work with the Product Support IPTL and the Program Management Function to ensure that the programs are delivered and executed in line with agreed technical performance, schedule and cost, and in compliance with the Collins Management System as well as Company, Customer and Regulatory requirements
  • Support the IPTL on regular customer status meetings and periodic TRMs (often on-site at customer facilities).
  • Participation in appropriate monthly programme reviews with senior management & department leads.
  • Draw on the resource in the functional teams to build a strong technical presence in front of the customer
  • Liaison with the In-service team discussing enquiries & investigations received from customers on in-service product.
  • Be an active contributor to transformation initiatives, bringing in Engineering expertise to support our internal customers.
  • Contribute to the Engineering culture within Wolverhampton, focusing on ways of working, inclusivity, wellbeing and engagement. Champion AS cultural pillars of Diversity & Inclusion, Collaboration, Curiosity, Innovation, Bold and Customer First.
  • Seek opportunities for commonality across the team, through best practice, sharing resources and workload, and promoting collaboration and intra-site teamworking.
  • Ensure CMS & process adherence, including understanding of International Trade Compliance (ITC) and be able to follow restrictions/controls put in place
Experience & Skills:
  • You should be qualified to at least Degree level in engineering, manufacturing or a related discipline, or have the equivalent training and experience.
  • You will hold a level of Engineering signatory, or demonstrate that you are capable of achieving signatory status within 12 months
  • You will need to have demonstrated project and technical leadership skills. You will need to be self-motivated with the ability to engage all levels in the organization.
  • Ideally you will have had some experience leading a small team of engineers, or drawing on other resources in order to complete tasks.
  • Demonstrated customer facing skills are essential. You will also need to be comfortable reporting upwards to Senior Leadership.
  • A level of commercial awareness so that risks and opportunities can be prioritized and the management system process adhered to.
  • Design to Cost (DTC), Design for Manufacture, Assembly & Test (DFMAT) exposure
