Role summary:

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their heat treatment team. As a furnace operator, you will be expected to deliver various parts working with strict specifications in a fast-paced environment. The candidate would be expected to work shifts in line with company requirements.

Principle Accountabilities:
  • Operating to quality procedures as dictated by Nadcap requirements
  • Loading and unloading of various furnaces
  • Completion of PIR sheets and relevant process documentation
  • Capable of reading drawings and understanding process specifications.
  • Heat Treatment of various components for a range of heat treat processes, e.g. carburise, vacuum heat treatments, salt bath hardening, tempering, nitriding. Training will be given as required
  • Masking components prior to carburising and nitriding.
  • Assessment of data on furnace chart recorders in order to confirm conformance to drawing and specification requirements
  • Adhere to batch control for traceability and audit purposes
  • Ensuring furnaces are fit for purpose by conducting daily monitoring (TPM) and first line maintenance
  • Provide assistance in quality control systems, investigations (i.e. non-conformance reviews, root cause analysis), continuous improvement activity, etc.
  • Assist in Heat Treat Department with continuous improvement initiatives
Personal Characteristics/ Qualifications
  • Knowledge of relevant manufacturing related quality procedures
  • Previous experience of working to NADCAP conditions
  • Experienced in all Heat Treat processes with an in-depth understanding
  • Ability to communicate effectively within working environment
  • Able to identify and resolve problems
  • Previous forklift training advantageous
  • Flexible approach with willingness to work as part of a team
  • Keen to participate in a continuous improvement and Nadcap focused environment
  • Calm under pressure and responsive to change
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work own initiative
