Job Details

Role Purpose

As a Module Support Manufacturing Engineer for the assembly and test areas, you will be the recognized point of contact within the Value stream for leading Manufacturing related improvements to current processes, ensuring that our products are produced in the safest, most economical way possible. You will use your knowledge of assembly and test activities to help oversee and optimize the performance of current manufacturing processes, driving continuous improvement activities, focusing on quality improvement, waste elimination and cost reduction.

You will also make process changes, due to product design changes, and support operations with technical issues. You will also be required to support customer visits, engage and run problem solving activities and to request changes to product design to aid manufacture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and modify manufacturing process routings
  • Support rework or out of scope manufacturing process routings
  • Drive manufacturing risk reduction activities using the high priority risk number burn down plans for identified products
  • Drive problem solving activities using lean tools
  • Support Process flow and PFMEA activities
  • Supporting internal layered audits and process audits where required
  • Be responsible for managing changes to existing processes as a result of Engineering design changes, engineering release note (ERN)
  • Recommending product design changes to aid manufacture, Engineering change request (ECR)
  • Support site quality clinics to triage non-conforming product, supporting and partaking in root cause analysis and scrap reduction projects where required
  • Tool design (simple to moderate tools and fixtures), procurement and validation
  • Managing modifications to the Manufacturing bill of materials
  • Modification of manufacturing standard work
  • JHA risk assessments and ergonomic assessments
Experience and Skills
  • Experience of Aerospace manufacturing/assembly and test
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Understanding of manufacturing concepts / processes
  • Apprentice trained with HNC or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Production Engineering Or Degree in Engineering/Manufacturing
  • Good Information technology skills including the use of Microsoft office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint etc.)
  • Able to work as part of a team
  • Proactive and self-motivated
