Your new company
My client is a nationally renowned, client focussed building society established to help local people buy their first home. Being a building society, not a bank, my client does not have to satisfy the needs of shareholders, and can instead reinvest in its clients and staff, ensuring a positive experience for all. It has always ensured its original values are upheld and is a conscientious player in the financial industry, ensuring the support of its staff's career goals, wellbeing and financial wellness. Due to an expansion and improvement process, my client is recruiting a System Engineer for their IT team on a permanent basis.

Your new role
As a system engineer, you will report directly to the Technical Services Manager and be working in a small team of 4. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support for the management of the Society's applications and IT infrastructure. This role play a vital part in the technical aspects of designing, testing, operating and improving IT services, as well as in developing the skills required to operate the society's complex IT infrastructure. You will quickly develop a deep understanding of the Society's infrastructure and core applications and look to continuously improve resilience in this capacity, working with the entire IT function including business change to understand technology and how this can compliment the Society's strategy. You will be someone who strives to be a technological expert and have a passion for both current and future technology. You will have a 35 hour working week, Monday to Friday, in a new office in Cardiff. You will also have the option to work on a hybrid basis, working from home 2 days a week.

You will need:
  • a degree level education or have equivalent experience

  • A broad knowledge of hardware, software and programming
  • Experience installing, configuring, documenting, testing, training, and implementing new applications and systems
  • Extensive experience of the Microsoft suite of products, including server and cloud architecture
  • A technical understanding of IT architecture

What you'll get in return
This is an opportunity for an experienced system engineer to work for a building society with a strong social conscience, and an established presence in the financial field. You will receive a range of benefits including:
  • A starting salary of £40k
