This is a hybrid role with a business that is located at the foot of the beautiful Malvern Hills in Worcestershire. We are currently seeking Principal/Senior Systems Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

Collins ISR Systems UK is seeking a pro-active and committed Engineer with experience of delivering systems who will report to the Engineering Manager at Malvern. Someone who will lead or undertake design, development and support work on our systems, across the lifecycle of one (or several) programmes. The role includes overseas travel, in particular to the Middle-East and the US (nominally 20% ).

Your principal responsibilities and duties will include, depending on system and programme role:

Delivering C4I systems and sub-systems:
  • Requirements definition and management
  • Systems design, build, integration and test
  • Trade studies
  • Supporting the software development, release and test
  • Defining and executing the programme plan and schedule,
  • Ensuring design integrity, meeting technical and financial goals
  • Coordinating across the business to ensure successful delivery
When leading a programme the role is responsible for all technical matters, which involves:
  • Leadership of the technical team working on the programme
  • Being the technical POC/focal point for the programme
  • Technical risk management
  • Management of the system configuration
  • System compliance management.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with senior customers
  • Effective management of external and internal stakeholders
As part of the wider role, you may be asked to:
  • Support bids and proposals
  • Support product and technical strategy development

Skills & Experience:

Essential:
  • Experience of IT system development and delivery (hardware and/or software)
  • Degree qualified or equivalent
  • At least three years experience in a directly relevant technical domain
Desirable:
  • In-depth knowledge of ISTAR technologies and systems
  • Good understanding and experience of the Systems Engineering lifecycle
  • Experience and knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Kanban processes and techniques
  • Previous demonstrable experience of delivering systems or sub-systems within Aerospace or Defence domains desirable
  • Knowledge of DevOps and associated software tools
  • Knowledge of networks, virtualised systems (ESXi), Windows Server, Linux, Docker, Veeam and/or Kubernetes
  • Previous experience of Electro-Optic imaging, Radar or ESM systems
