Role summary:
The Production Manager will be responsible for the effective management of an autonomous operational unit (Machine Shop) to achieve customer satisfaction, quality, delivery, cost and turnaround time. Principle Accountabilities:
  • Manage, lead and motivate all the teams within the module
  • Contribute to the strategic planning process of developing the module in line with the Aftermarket MRO / Machine Shop business strategy
  • Ensure capacity and capability are continually planned in order to meet agreed customer due dates and TRT's
  • Ensure consistent communication is maintained throughout the department and external processes
  • Drive and co-ordinate project improvement activity ensuring effective monitoring and evaluation such that milestone are achieved and hazards are anticipated and resolved
  • Ensure the application of lean, such that at all levels opportunities for continuous improvement and waste elimination are identified and acted on
  • Work with Team Leaders and Team technicians to develop and achieve monthly, weekly & daily targets for customer due dates, TRT, output and effectiveness
  • Deputise for Machine Shop Manager as and when required
  • Lead/Co-Lead lean events to ensure waste is continually eliminated and lead times are reduced
  • Identify training requirements with Team Leaders and initiate plans
  • Manage workload per cell through the machine shop and external processes ensuring deliveries are aligned to meet customer requirements and are in-line with capacity constraints
  • Ensure regular communication updates are provided to the customer
  • To work to tight deadlines
