Rose Purpose

As part of continued growth and expansion, Collins Aerospace in Wolverhampton is currently recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer, to lead all technical and manufacturing engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating the technical specification within the Request For Quotation (RFQ) documents for Machine Tool suppliers.
  • Assessing all machine tool proposals and selecting preferred options
  • Developing a robust production method to achieve the forecasted production rates.
  • Validate current production methods and implement standardisation / improvements
  • Liaise with the receiving site Manufacturing Engineering teams to provide all technical support and training.
  • Generate fixture and tooling designs required.
  • Be a recognised expert resource for resolving technical issues across functional areas including Bevel Gears and Worm Gears.
  • Lead the creation of a robust manufacturing process.
  • Ensure the swift and timely completion of first article and production parts.
  • Provide technical support for a Quality Assurance lead to resolve and prevent machining or processing quality concerns.
  • Establish and monitor machine routings.
  • Develop working practices that are appropriate to a Lean manufacturing environment including Lean events, Risk Assessments and PDPR's.
Skills and Experience
  • Qualified to HNC or above or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • Able to read Engineering drawings and CMM reports
  • Thorough understanding of gear manufacturing techniques including design of tools and fixtures to support manufacture
  • Self-motivated in order to achieve World-Class results within limited time scales.
  • Interpersonal skills developed to be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to work within teams.
  • Flexibility and availability to address daily issues.
  • Possesses the necessary enthusiasm, desire to succeed and discipline to achieve significant results for the organisation.
  • IT literate - Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, Outlook & MS Project)
  • Some experience of the following would be derisible:
    • Component proving out and New Product Introduction (NPI) process
    • Creation of Manufacturing routings
    • HMSCAPP planning system / Autocad LT98 / Cadcam
    • Turning Centre (OSP Controls), Milling (Control similar to Fanuc) and CMM programming
    • Gear measurement Klingelberg
    • Profile 50/80 optical measuring machines
