As a Security Architect, you will work across the whole of the Digital and Innovation portfolio, supporting activity across core IT and technology, customer and digital, and our Smart City ambitions to make Westminster a world class city. This will require a proactive and relentless focus on delivery.

You will support the whole council to utilise modern technology services which are secure but maintain the highest levels of accessibility. You will take responsibility for the security profile of the council's self-built services, and for designing overall council-wide security policy, architecture and design, influencing at the highest level to make decisions. In addition, you will create security standards and patterns for complex, interdependent services, making technology choices and trade-offs, while giving advice across whole business areas.

Your profile

  • Expert knowledge and understanding of security and system architectures; the relevant technologies, tools and platforms, best modern practice; industry trends and risks
  • Deep knowledge of modern technology security practices around services, infrastructure, hosting and platforms
  • Knowledge of open-source technology, modern software, and software development practice, including various options around self-built, low-code and outsourced services
  • Knowledge of DevOps practice and culture and associated practices like continuous deployment and testing, test-driven development and pair programming
  • Experience delivering systems and security designs, patterns and decisions at pace; setting service and development standards
  • Experience working with APIs and microservices architecture and managing the relationships between interdependent product and platform teams.
  • CISM, CISSP, MSc Information Security, or NCSC certifications are highly desirable
