Senior Cisco Network Engineer

As part of our broader investment in our Digital Strategy, we are looking to recruit a Senior Cisco Network Engineer, an exciting opportunity where you will get the chance to lead on developing the University's network architecture, underpinning the Digital Strategy to deliver learning and research, enabled, and enhanced by IT.

The University network consists of around 1,000 network switches, providing network access to over 10,000 wired network devices, in addition to 1,800 Wireless access points, supporting 20,000 devices a day. Network services (DNS, DHCP etc) are currently supported by over 100 Linux servers

In this role, you will get the opportunity to play a key role in the development and delivery of the future network architecture, which includes the edge and core physical networks, wireless network and core services such as DNS, DHCP. You will take responsibility for evaluation, prototyping, design & development activity for new and changed services in this area, ensuring they are designed and implemented to meet functional, security, performance, scalability and business/IT continuity requirements. You will ensure the technical lifecycle management processes for network services are developed to enable efficient and effective management and support.

Core Skills
• Strong Cisco Network Engineering experience across a large enterprise environment
• Experience in network design, and the implementation and troubleshooting of network services across wired and wireless networking, network hardware, firewalls, IPAM technologies and network monitoring tools
• CCNP certified
• Good understanding of IT security
• Strong service management experience
