My client is a multi-national engineering group that has its headquarters in Cheltenham, UK. With a diverse work force giving them global strength, they serve over 100,000 customers in 130 countries across multiple industries and are looking for a Group Network Lead to join their ever growing and strengthening team.

Your new role

The primary role of the UK Network Administrator is to support and manage all aspects of network spread across buildings located in and around Cheltenham. You will be part of a small team of Network specialists, ensuring you deliver a first-class service to the business, while ensuring the group standards are followed. It will be your responsibility to manage the configuration, design, and daily changes within the network, alongside supporting and managing 3rd party partners. You will work towards goals, receive appraisals, daily BAU tickets and be part of a professional and friendly department.

  • Build and manage relationships with external partners, ensuring that service quality and value for money are appropriately balanced.
  • BAU activities such has patch management, moves and changes
  • Supporting the management of Firewalls/Switches and Access Points with our partners
  • Ensuring all devices are running on latest versions
  • Supporting the management of Cisco VPN clients
  • Support and problem management of incidents
  • Managing new building configuration and relocation of executives to new locations
  • Cisco ISE network level security
  • Ensure that agreed targets are met and appropriate standards achieved.
  • Implement processes to improve call resolution and number of incidents.
  • Train other staff to ensure that cross skills and industry best practices are adhered to (e.g. CCNA program)


What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in IT or equivalent work experience.
  • Practical qualifications or experience in IS areas, ideally CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA A+
  • 3+ years' experience of work with exposure to working within WAN and LAN management.
  • Experience of being part of and leading a quality service minded IS support team.
  • Exposure to challenges of managing international IT.
  • Experience of Hosting and third-party management.
  • Understanding of ITIL v3
  • Experience in the creation and implementation of appropriate SLAs.
  • Sound understanding of Microsoft and VMware
  • Communication skills with an aptitude to use technology for process improvement
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others
  • Professional demeanour - ability to communicate issues clearly to others
  • Ability to handle constantly changing priorities.
  • Exercise patience and professionalism during stressful situations
  • Creativity - ability to think around problems and provide solutions
  • Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision
