Job Title: Quality Manager - Weapons and Sensors

Summary of Role:
Responsible for identifying, scoping and delivering Quality Control & Assurance in support of Project Delivery. This role line-reports to the Head of Quality & Mission Assurance
Partnering closely and communicating effectively with sponsors, key stakeholders and subject matter experts across all levels of the organization to ensure that projects are executed successfully, achieving business objectives
The person in this role will be able to think both tactically and strategically to formulate the right approach.

Main Duties:
  • Design, Development & Delivery of a robust Project Quality Assurance scheme, underpinned by a comprehensive audit surveillance
  • Leadership of prompt audit NC closure
  • Identification of and planning for the training needs of personnel within the Operations Quality department.
  • Takes personal responsibility to ensure that the team is aware of the business objectives and issues facing the organisation.
  • Actively networks across all business areas to ensure appropriate and effective prioritisation of activities in area of accountability
  • Provide strategic planning for the QA team and function
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ownership and control of related components of AOP/budget, resourcing, schedule management and benefits capture
  • Line-management responsibilities for assigned members of the W&S Quality team
Candidate Requirements:
Essential:
  • Strong leadership experience of teams in matrixed environments with the ability to influence others
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. A key aspect to this is to be an excellent listener.
  • Ability to quickly assimilate information and develop strategies & action plans for improvement
  • Demonstrates openness and honesty leading to a high level of trust, confidence, and respect.
  • To be proactive and be able to communicate/participate in senior management meetings and reviews
  • Thorough understanding of business operations and the associated processes & systems
  • Strong ability to effectively analyse, understand and develop performance metrics
  • Significant (10years +) experience in similar role(s)
  • Degree educated in Business Management or suitable similar qualifications & experience
  • Eligible for, or holder of current, SC security clearance
Desirable:
  • Six Sigma Expert certification (black belt) or higher
  • Technical / Engineering qualification and background
  • Experience and understanding of winning new business
  • Related professional body membership(s)
