NS UK Law Enforcement - Application Architect

We are looking to expand our team with individuals who are passionate about helping our customers keep the UK safe from serious and organised crime, and who are seeking a varied Application Architecture career in a customer facing environment.

Our teams work closely to deliver mission critical applications and data services to help our customer achieve their mission. We are known for our strong work ethic and doing the right thing for the customer.

Skills required

We are looking for individuals with a minimum of 5 years experience in a hands on Software Development or Engineering role, and at least 1 years experience in Software / Application design. As our teams work closely with software engineers, operational users and wider architecture teams, good communication skills are essential.

Below is an overview of the specific skills and behaviours best suited to a career as an Application Architect within the National Security UK Law Enforcement area of BAE Systems Digital Intelligence:

Key Skills:

  • Proven commercial experience in developing and delivering a number of software applications as a software engineer
  • Knowledge of a broad range of technical stacks, including working with messaging frameworks, RDBMSs and NoSQL data stores
  • Experience with diagramming tools such as Sparx EA, Visio, Draw.io
  • Understanding of appropriate delivery methodologies depending on the customer context
  • Understanding of development best practice
  • Experience with AWS and (optionally) Azure
  • Experience in presenting and agreeing architectural choices at governance boards

Location:

Due to the projects you'll work on, and the clearance required, you will primarily work from a secure site (office) location - either Bristol or Vauxhall. The clearance level you'll be required to achieve is enhanced SC. As a result, you need be a British National and have resided in the UK for the last 10 years. The clearance vetting process will take place over the course of the onboarding programme and will be managed by BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.

This role is part of our National Security business, where we develop operational solutions and deliver mission-critical services to Law Enforcement Agencies and Government departments. Our dedicated engineers and business consultants form multi-disciplinary teams, working together to provide a variety of solutions that help to prevent, protect and pursue criminals involved in serious and organised crime, enhance operational capabilities and deliver digital transformation programmes.
