LMS Media Developer
Location(s): The main place of work will be HMS Collingwood with responsibilities for other sites. Potential requirement for travel between sites within the UK.

Summary of Role:

Team Fisher operates a significant outsourced contract for the provision of education and training services to the Royal Navy. The training services comprise of Naval technical and tactical training and education, delivered by Team Fisher instructors as well as training support (e.g. training planning, equipment support, routine maintenance and training design). The contract is entering an exciting new phase with renewed focus on training innovation, optimisation and collaborative working and this role will provide the support and drive to achieve successful delivery of all aspects of the contract in this new phase. The Defence Learning Environment (DLE) is the Royal Navy's principle Learning Management System (LMS).

Reporting to the Media Services Supervisor, the LMS Media Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining training media and eLearning content on Moodle instances (generally on the DLE) and configuring e-Learning courses JSP 822 and industry best practice. Increased utilisation of Moodle and other Learning Management Systems will be fundamental to the embedding of greater innovation within the contract so this role will need to engage in the development of systems in support of agreed change initiatives.

Main Duties:
  • Support the effective and efficient delivery of the DLE and other LMS solutions within the Selborne contract.
  • Assist, configure and maintain the LMS to include DSAT (where applicable) compliant media categories, user configuration files, site configuration files and administration definitions
  • Publishes course content onto the appropriate LMS and undertake management of LMS content within Content Management System
  • Create, publish and maintain eLearning content directly into the LMS using LMS tools e.g. H5P
  • Design and create digital media content that will be deliverable from multiple platforms and via numerous applications including the DLE
  • Design and production of hard copy (print) media content for training resources and Establishment support
  • Keep abreast of industry best practices as well as emerging technologies and support systems resulting in the most effective and efficient solutions. Conducts research and collaborates with SMEs to incorporate knowledge into solutions.
  • Ensure compliance (where applicable) with MoD/customer regulations and procedures including DSAT and JSP 822
  • Ensure maintenance of high standards by undertaking regular CPD and keeping abreast of new learning methods and associated technology.

  • Carry out any other appropriate task that may be required from time to time

Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience in developing eLearning solutions
  • Experience of using Moodle or equivalent LMS
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office packages
  • Knowledge of graphics design software
Desirable Attributes:
  • Understanding of DSAT (Defence Systems Approach to Training) and JSP 822
  • Experience in collating data and maintaining accurate records
  • Experience of learning and development methodologies
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance procedures
