About the Team

BAE Systems' Geospatial eXploitation Products (GXP™) software solutions deliver an unrivalled capacity for discovery, exploitation, and dissemination of mission-critical geospatial data, by enabling development of the most advanced geospatial intelligence. At GXP, we have experienced a significant growth globally over the past five years. GXP is a small multi-national and multi-cultural team based out of disparate geographical locations. The work culture is akin to a start-up.

About the Role

The qualified applicant will be capable of building upon core GXP technologies to tailor offerings for specific by developing, validating, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts to productize. The primary emphasis will be on front-end JavaScript development but will include some backend Java-based service development to support prototypes as needed. Strong communication skills are required in order to present and discuss potential solutions to business owners and product owners.

Example responsibilities our Senior Software Engineers would have:

• Providing technical leadership to design and architect software solutions to meet business needs
• Developing object orientated software code in high level languages such as Java, Python or C++
• Developing web based front end software in modern frameworks such as ReactJS or AngularJS
• Creating supporting CI & platform infrastructure using technologies such as Jenkins and Docker/Kubernetes
• Debugging software issues and finding root causes of common faults
• Contributing to product roadmap discussions using SCRUM and SAFe agile development methodologies
• Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers
• Some roles may include opportunities for short term international assignments

What We Are Looking For

• At least 7 years' experience as a software engineer with the following technologies:
  • JavaScript/ Typescript/React/React-Query frontend development
  • Java RESTful API and backend service development
  • Karaf (OSGi) and Solr experience is desirable
  • RDBMS and no-SQL database experience is desirable
  • Experience with similar technologies will be considered
• Proactive problem solver with strong analytical skills
• Good communication skills and able to present confidently to senior stakeholders
• Articulate in English, both verbally and in writing
• Objective, logical and enquiring mind
