The Role
1. Summary of Role Purpose:
The Assistant Programme Manager will support the delivery of events and communications of our priority relationship programmes, with the Board Leadership Centre (BLC) being a primary focus. The role will work in conjunction with team members within the Strategic Relationships and Events team.
The Operational Excellence Hub (OEH) includes marketing and event specialists who bring operational capability and process execution to support the delivery of our marketing and strategic relationship programmes. The OEH works alongside strategic relationships, brand and risk management, event delivery, marketing effectiveness, campaign delivery and digital enablement.
The Assistant Manager will support the delivery of the BLC strategy, meeting our brand and regulatory requirements and actively involving colleagues throughout all facets of the programme implementation to ensure buy-in, quality and effectiveness.
They will have the ability to co-ordinate activities across multiple stakeholders, channels, programmes and activities prioritising both your own and other colleagues focus to ensure we hit agreed timelines.
The role will often include supporting business relationships including capturing feedback, input into content and messaging and internal engagement.
This includes working autonomously where appropriate on location at events with the ability to manage stakeholders, interact with clients and address issues that arise.
 
2. Description of the role:
  • Responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery of the Board Leadership Centre, including events, speaker liaison, social media and digital assets.
  • Liaison with KGS and oversight of data management procedures and reporting in support of us maintaining our membership information and complying with GDPR
  • Accountable for monitoring and reporting on programme KPIs, such as engagement levels, strength of relationship, data completeness and quality
  • Management of the event programme in line with our best practice guidelines (live, hybrid & virtual)
  • Ensure effective budget control
  • Working with the SR&EH team to ensure all programmes are joined up, delivered on time and on budget
  • Draft third party briefs and seek required client feedback
  • Coordinate and work alongside third parties, partners and other internal teams and ensure we best use their skills and capabilities
  • Managing suppliers including contract negotiation within budget and invoice settlement
  • Manage the requirements of our processes across deliverables including brand, risk and data management policies.
  • Capture reporting and insights from events to enable our marketing effectiveness processes and suggest ideas for improvements to both event design and the development process
3. Role dimensions
3.1 Leadership & Management
This role will report to the relevant Events & Hospitality Manager.
The individual will work alongside colleagues in Strategic Relationships, Events, the wider Sales & Marketing function and the core BLC team.
3.2 Stakeholder Interaction & challenges:
The ideal individual for this role will be energetic and organised, someone who enjoys taking on responsibility and making a positive contribution to the activities of the SR&EH team.
They will be highly-professional, able to work within budget to the exacting standards required in a leading professional services environment.
They will be comfortable with running multiple projects at once, collaborating with Marketing Business Partners, our offshore team and the business to ensure delivery within timeframes and agreed budgets.
They will be able to capture their feedback constructively to refine and improve our approach to events with support from colleagues as required.
Self-motivated and driven you will be embrace opportunities to work independently but seek and advice and guidance from colleagues when needed.
They will bring new thinking and ideas whilst being consistent in the application of our operational processes.
They will understand the importance of good relationships both within and outside the organisation, using your influencing and negotiating skills to ensure that relationships with third parties work to the best advantage of KPMG, and to promote collaboration, understanding and positive contribution internally.

They will ensure that our risk and compliance processes are understood and applied consistently across the campaign development process.

4.1 Experience
Core technical competencies
  • Experience at working on multi-faceted and complex programmes to engage senior audienes (live, virtual and hybrid)
  • Experience of working on end-to-end programmes
  • Previous experience of working with third parties
  • Experience of negotiating with third parties
  • Experience of engaging business stakeholders
  • Familiarity of using brand visual identity toolkits and guidelines
  • Track record of B2B event delivery essential
  • Able to apply risk and compliance processes effectively
  • Familiar with management and role of data in event programmes and able to produce event reports and apply client insights where relevant
  • Good experience with digital and event platforms and tools.

4.2 Expertise/ Technical role requirements:
  • Proven track record of strong programme management at Assistant Manager level within a professional services environment
  • BA university degree or equivalent
  • Highly proficient in all MS Office packages
  • Knowledge of CRM and marketing campaign systems
  • Readiness to work unsocial hours, including evenings and weekends, ability to stay away from home as the role requires
 
4.3 Skills:
  • Good understanding of project management techniques for relationship programmes
  • Development, forecasting and report of campaign budgets
  • Good creative skills including reviewing copy and visual/image selection
  • You will also be able to offer constructive commentary on some of the firm's key senior audience events and offer suggestions as to how we might improve their impact
     
Reports and Accountability
  • This role will report to the Events & Hospitality Manager, with reporting to the Director, Strategic Relationships as required.
