Role reports into Strategic Philanthropy, Senior Manager, Corporate Responsibility
The role:
Supporting the delivery of the Strategic Philanthropy pillar of KPMG UK's Corporate Responsibility Strategy, including the firm's:
  • Strategic Philanthropy Environment programme (volunteering, pro bono and policy work)
  • Pro Bono for Better programme (education, environment and ad-hoc)
  • Governance for Better programme (support for charity trustees and school governors)
  • Group and team volunteering programme (environmental volunteering)
  • Cost of Living support for local communities
  • Emergency Relief Protocol (the UK firm's response to Global Disasters and Emergencies)
Key areas of responsibility:
  1. Lead the Strategic Philanthropy Environment Programme
  • Shape strategy for the Strategic Philanthropy Environment programme including setting the selection criteria and KPIs across each of the pillars of the partnership: Volunteering; Pro bono and Policy
  • Research and review potential Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity partners in order to determine a shortlist of options
  • Support procurement, due diligence and risk processes in order to onboard the chosen charity
  • Develop and communicate the colleague offering for the Strategic Philanthropy Environment programme
  • Ensure delivery of the Strategic Philanthropy Environment Programme objectives and KPIs across each of the pillars of the partnership: Volunteering; Pro bono and Policy.
  • Establish appropriate governance structures for the new Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity
  • Recruit and engage a champion network for the Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity across all offices
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly progress updates to Directors and reporting teams
  • Identify and deliver on all-firm engagement opportunities for colleagues to get together, reconnect, improve their health and wellbeing whilst supporting the Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity.
 
  1. Manage the Pro Bono for Better Programme (education, environment and ad-hoc projects)
  • First and foremost, ensure the delivery of the priority pro bono needs identified by the firm's the Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity and strategic education partners.
  • Support the Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity and strategic education partners to scope out these identified needs and then identify appropriate teams within the business with the right skills and capabilities to support on these.
  • Discuss the requested projects with identified teams in the businesses and support them to discuss details and refine scopes with the Strategic Philanthropy Environment charity and strategic education partners in order to agree available resource and potential timeframes to deliver.
  • Support these teams to set-up and deliver on these.
  • Support teams within the firm to set-up and deliver pro bono for charities of their choice, as and when they approach you.
  • Support the CR team with risk, due diligence and ethics and independence processes as required.
 
  1. Support the delivery of the Governance for Better programme
  • Review the current Governance for Better programme offering for colleagues and work with the Assistant Manager to refine the strategy, re-set KPIs and refresh the programme.
  • Research and review best practice across other charity trustee and school governor volunteering programmes.
  • Research and review potential charity trustee brokers in order to determine a shortlist of options for organisations that can find opportunities, recruit colleagues, match them with opportunities and support them with training and guidance.
 
  1. Oversee and support the delivery of Group and team volunteering programme
  • Review the current Governance for Better programme offering for colleagues and work with the Assistant Manager to refine the strategy, re-set KPIs and refresh the programme.
  • Support the CR Assistant Manager to plan activity and engage brokers to deliver on an engaging range of skilled educational and environmental opportunities for groups and teams at KPMG throughout the year.
  • Ensure the promotion of the group/team volunteering programme in CR communications to promote further uptake of these roles by colleagues and increase engagement.
 
  1. Cost of Living support for local communities
Shape the strategy for Cost of Living support for local communities including setting the criteria and KPIs.
  • Research, review and support delivery of potential pilot options across local offices.
  • Support procurement, due diligence and risk processes associated with Cost of Living support.
  • Develop and communicate the colleague offering for Cost of Living support for local communities.
 
  1. Emergency Relief Protocol (the UK firm's response to Global Disasters and Emergencies)
  • Work with the CR Directors and Strategic Philanthropy Senior Manager to agree and execute the UK's response to global disasters and emergencies.
  • Work with the CR coordinator to set up emergency appeals for colleague donations to established disaster relief charities e.g. UNICEF, The British Red Cross, Oxfam etc.
Skills and Attributes:
  • Established experience in volunteer engagement and charity partnership management.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, ability to explain complex problems and solutions in an engaging and understandable way.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate in writing and in person.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, delivering high quality work on time and to budget.
  • Acting with integrity and upholds all of KPMG's values.
  • A team player, who can work in collaboration and is enthusiastic and supportive.
