Job Details

We are currently seeking a Customs Specialist to join our teams located within our HS Marston facility.

Position summary:

Reporting to the site Global Trade "GT" & Customs Manager, the Customs Specialist is responsible for a variety of activities relating to customs compliance and for providing cover in the absence of the GT Specialist. Key responsibilities are:
  • HTS classification of Company products and imported items.
  • Allocation of CPC codes to imported items.
  • Provision of import clearance instructions to agents for all imported items.
  • Liaison with internal departments to resolve customs compliance matters.
  • Ensuring that documentation is obtained & reviewed in a timely manner and auditable records maintained for all imported items in accordance with HMRC and Company requirements.
  • Maintaining the validity of the Company's IPR authorisation from HMRC.
  • Management of the IPR process to ensure timely submission of quarterly IPR returns in line with the Company's IPR authorisation from HMRC.
  • Approval of freight forwarder charges for imported items.
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the Company's AEO accreditation.
  • Ensuring conformance to existing and new customs and import compliance regulatory requirements.
  • Participating in external and internal audits
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time by the GT & Customs Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Previous Customs Compliance experience is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills (eg: SAP, MS Office).
  • A high degree of accuracy and record keeping.
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience within the Aerospace and Defence sectors desirable.

This position may involve access to export controlled information and hardware where an export license would be required for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
