Title: Original Equipment (OE) Quality Engineer

Employment Type: Full Time, Temporary (18 Month Fixed Term Contract)

Position Summary:
The Original Equipment (OE) Quality Engineer is a critical role within the Small & Medium Engines Value Stream. Reporting directly into the value stream Quality Lead, the OE Quality Engineer coordinates all quality related activities within the OE business platform to meet the needs of our business.

The OE Quality Engineer owns all aspects of compliance adherence (contractual, regulatory, legal) within the OE platform. They will also be customers primary point of contact within the Collins Aerospace business for quality control related queries and investigations related to OE unit variants, manufactured within the engine controls business unit.

Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities detailed below summarise the key areas of ownership, however at times additional areas of responsibility may be requested.
  • Assist in maintaining the site Quality Management Systems to support site approvals, including conducting internal audits, supplier audits and conducting process walk-throughs.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and global MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) network on Quality related issues.
  • Involvement in internal ('ACE') initiatives to drive process improvements at site level and in Supply Chain.
  • Review of customer and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Involvement in First Article Inspection / Maintenance Process Verification processes.
  • Product Assurance activities, including investigation to root cause and support of new product introduction.
  • Support customer and regulatory surveillance visits, and action follow-up items.
  • Delivering training as required and maintaining associated competency / training records.
  • Support to the Operations modules and support functions in order to meet business requirements.
  • Development and reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), undertaking trend analysis and identifying countermeasures.
  • Attend required EH&S training; understand the hazards, risks and control measures of the job being performed including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Preferred Skills and Qualifications
  • An appreciation of aftermarket related certification and approvals (For example, AS9110, AS9120, EASA 145, FAR 145).
  • An understanding and/or experience in auditing in addition to an inquisitive mind-set.
  • An understanding of Quality and Continuous Improvement tools / techniques.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Good interpersonal skills, both written and verbal, to enable effective communication at all levels.
  • Strength of character, with the ability to make decisions in challenging circumstances.
  • Disciplined, organized, and proactive approach to work.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
This position may involve access to export controlled information and hardware where an export license would be required for compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Employment will be subject to satisfactory security checks, export license approval, and if required, completion of a non-disclosure agreement .
