We have an exciting opportunity for a Synthetic Environment Developer to join our teams located within our Burgess Hill, West Sussex facility.

Synthetic Environment Developer

We are looking for a talented 3D Generalist to work on a full-time basis to create assets for flight simulation. The ideal candidate should be comfortable with both organic and hard-surface modelling in a low-poly game environment. With a grounded understanding of computer-generated imagery disciplines and a proven ability, with demonstrable experience, of non-specific 3D modelling software.

As a synthetic environment developer you will be responsible for delivering solutions to fulfil the requirements set out for simulating a real time flight training environment. Within this role you will receive mentoring and guidance by senior engineers but you will also enjoy a degree of autonomy and you will be given the opportunity to interface with other business functions to gain the necessary input for the required solution. Your day to day duties will involve design and development activities relating to the provision of a pilot training environment. This is a fast paced environment driven by customer deliverables which will help you further develop your project management skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Create and revise digital assets, responding to guidance and review from the creative and technical supervisors.
  • Optimise models for export in our proprietary EP (Environment Processor) system
  • Ensure that digital assets meet standards and specifications with respect to aesthetics, accuracy, optimisation and also external government regulatory standards.
  • Have the ability to effectively collaborate with other developers and programmers
  • Be comfortable receiving or giving critiques
  • Adapt to technical dependencies and engine limitations
  • Organise and accurately estimate tasks
  • Maintain compliance to all requirements and where necessary, liaise with the customer and suppliers to determine technical requirements.
  • Ensuring on-time delivery of tasks within budget.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Portfolio showcasing professional and personal work
  • Extensive knowledge of 3D modelling tools and texturing tools
  • Capability to deliver a quality product to meet requirements and budgets
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Familiarity with low poly modelling techniques and asset optimisation
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree within a 3D modelling / computer games / animation / digital art discipline or equivalent qualification or industry experience
  • Programming and scripting skills would be beneficial, but not essential
