Junior Account Manager

We have an exciting new vacancy for a Junior Account Manager to join our Key Accounts and Business Development team. You will support the growth of our work delivering Cyber, Wireless, Cross domain and other related capabilities to international partners in collaboration with our UK National Security customers. As Junior Account Manager you will support the Account Manager across the portfolio, with the opportunity to take on increasing ownership of parts of the portfolio over time. Ideally we are looking for a candidate with experience of working in Cyber Security, Defence, National Security, Government or a similar environment or who understands this domain.

What you will be doing:

As well as engaging with direct customers in HM Government you will build understanding of, and relationships with, international partners - qualifying whether there are direct opportunities for BAE Systems in those countries, and either follow up directly, or hand-off to colleagues for further opportunity qualification or development.

You will be collaborating with colleagues in National Security, as well as with the International Government Account Manager for related FCDO, HO, USAID and State Department opportunities, building and utilising an effective internal network. Tracking developments in UK Government Foreign, defence and security policy that impact requirements for international capacity building, will help the team to evolve the growth strategy accordingly.

General Account Management duties will include contributing to the development and execution of Account Plans for relevant areas. Maintaining accurate order forecasts utilising Salesforce to provide prompt and comprehensive data to enable operations, delivery and finance support to function smoothly. Responding to customer procurements for smaller opportunities, including writing bid responses, following the Assurance Framework and contributing to bid teams responding for larger opportunities where required.

You will need to access to classified networks in London, Guildford or Gloucester on a weekly basis; so we will require you to work in site once a week but otherwise a flexible hybrid working pattern would apply.

Short-term international travel may be required, expected to be no more than 1 week in duration for any given trip, and no more frequent than two weeks each quarter on average.

The experience you will need:

  • Prior experience of business development, whether bid management, capture management or account management preferred but not essential if domain knowledge is good.
  • Confidence to establish and develop relationships with a range of government officials in the UK and potentially overseas.
  • Presentation, negotiation and persuasion skills as applied to selling.
  • Internal networking with colleagues in sales, delivery and functional roles.
  • Business Expertise in one or more of the following is preferred, but not essential if functional knowledge is good: Understanding of UK National Security and/or Defence domains or understanding of Cyber and Sigint capabilities
  • Problem Solving skills and the ability to engage with technical capabilities from our Wireless and Cyber product / capability areas.
  • Flexibility to deal with the significant uncertainty associated with the early stage development of new areas of business.

Security Clearance

Only those with the permanent and unrestricted right to live and work in the UK will be considered for a position within BAE Systems Digital Intelligence.
