Senior Security Engineer - Inside IR35

Experience of log onboarding to Splunk. Knowledge and experience around Dev/DevSecOps are required for this position, most of our log shipping pipelines are built using native cloud services which are deployed as 'Infrastructure as Code'. The candidate will also have fundamental knowledge and experience of AWS/GCP and building and supporting cloud services in particular with Terraform.
The Security Engineering team is responsible for building, configuring and maintaining the tooling and infrastructure which underpins the work of the wider cyber security team. We work with teams across the Cabinet Office to build, embed and improve secure development practices.
We’re passionate about industry best practice approaches across the full software development lifecycle, including infrastructure-as-code and continuous deployment, and we’re looking for somebody who shares our passion. We also make extensive use of cloud services - in particular Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - and it’s important that you have a deep understanding and applied knowledge of cloud-first engineering.
As a Senior Security Engineer your main responsibilities would be: 
•    Lead day-to-day operation of the cyber security team’s internal infrastructure and lead the investigation and remediation of any operational issues.
•    Lead the implementation of resilient and highly-available systems to support the cyber security team’s capabilities.
•    Work closely with the Cyber Defence team to rapidly develop capabilities that support the investigation of and response to cyber security incidents.
•    Automate tasks, deployments, and tests. 
•    Create and maintain infrastructure-as-code.
•    Quality assure operational documentation.
•    Share knowledge and collaborate with the wider Cyber Security and Cyber Engineering teams.

You’ll have relevant experience in:
•    SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be eligible and willing to undergo these checks.
•    Knowledge/Experience around Dev/DevSecOps.
•    Knowledge and Experience of AWS/GCP, building and supporting cloud services with Terraform.
•    Significant experience building and maintaining services in AWS including security tools.
•    Significant experience building and maintaining software using Python.
•    An excellent understanding of security principles and how these can be applied in practice.
•    Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
•    Log shipping pipelines are built using native cloud services which are deployed as 'Infrastructure as Code'.
•    Experience shipping cloud logs to a SIEM platform.
•    Experience of log onboarding to Splunk.
•    Shipping security Logs – Splunk + Elastic Search.
•    An understanding of software design principles.
•    A systematic and structured approach to solving problems.

Desirable:
•    Experience with serverless cloud services such as AWS Lambda and Fargate.
•    Experience with collaboration platforms such as Jira and Confluence.
•    Experience working in an Agile environment.
•    Experience implementing Identity and Access Management tools.
•    Active SC Clearance.
