We have an amazing opportunity for an experienced Events/Marketing Manager to join our marketing team on a 9-12 months FTC to cover maternity.

You will be responsible for creating, owning and supporting tier one global events programs. Working as part of the central communications and marketing function to deliver event marketing services in a coordinated and accountable way to support the provision of focused and targeted marketing to support the sales and marketing teams in a growing global business.

Whilst we are operating on a hybrid working pattern, you will mostly be working remote but could be asked to attend one of our local offices in Leeds, Manchester, London or Guildford in line with business requirements

Objectives of Role

  • Support end to end creation of events from inception to onsite management which may involve travel, including outside of the UK. This will include a variety of events from internal strategic events, third party exhibitions & conferences, live events, virtual events
  • Business Area Protocol Co-Coordinator for BAE Systems corporate events
  • Deliver effective events which drive awareness and business growth
  • To work with wider communications, marketing and regional teams to ensure events are executed as an integrated campaign
  • Third party vendor management
  • Support business pipeline development and winning opportunities
  • Protect our reputation through proactive issues preparation and management
  • Work with stakeholders within the wider business to ensure the event meets campaign objectives
  • Own and manage the budget for each event ensuring all events are deliver on time and within budget
  • Report budget updates monthly
  • Manage the procurement process around each event including the setting up of suppliers, raising of purchase orders, process around purchasing cards, one time vendor payments
  • Working with existing approved suppliers for venue searching, exhibition stand build companies, production company, third party event organisers which vary from event to event and any other supplier as required
  • Communication, providing briefs and scope of project requirements and managing the project with the suppliers

Skills and Experience

  • CRM and events management systems experience
  • Working with third party suppliers
  • Ability to forge strong working relationships with peers and other colleagues within the organization , create networks and manage stakeholders
  • Strong IT skills including Excel, Word and PowerPoint


  • Identify risks and propose solutions to mitigate these
  • Understand and challenge current ways of working to improve efficiency and drive collaboration
  • Identify problems in order to suggest and implement opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Be bold, innovative in the approach the problem solving, setting an example for other members of the marketing function to follow


  • To be able to adapt to local cultures
  • Strong organization skills and time management
  • Developed communication and diplomacy skills in order to persuade and influence
  • Capacity to work using own initiative and as part of a larger team
  • Resilience and perseverance
  • Event Project Management (at least 5+ years of event management experience)
