  • Establish and then manage and develop the new Cyber Security Operations team, embedding a culture of highly visible, responsive and effective service provision, supporting key University priorities.
  • Create and embed required processes and procedures to deliver an effective cyber detection and response service for all parts of the University.
  • Provide technical specialist advice and guidance for the resolution of cyber security incidents.
  • Develop and deliver cyber security key performance indicators to University governance committees to assist trend reporting.
  • As a senior subject matter specialist stakeholder, support delivery of cyber security improvement projects.
  • Responsible for the security, availability, responsiveness and quality of the CSyO services and infrastructure, including leading the design, implementation and management.
  • Forward planning for budget recommendations to be considered as part of annual and long term overall information security strategy development.
  • will have a high degree of autonomy in decision making, particularly in relation to the operational day to day management of the Cyber Security Operations Team and developing an effective strategies.
Skills you will need
  • CREST certified Incident Manager or other similar training
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience managing and leading a similar team in complex organisations.
    • Experience of leadership, motivation, challenge and oversight of a specialist technical team
    • Understanding of how to embed a culture of highly visible, responsive and effective service provision
    • Strong relationship management skills across technical teams delivering different aspects of cyber security controls.
      • Expert in one or more of the following Network and systems security; Windows/Unix/Linux systems administration; TCP/IP networking; Intrusion Detection/Prevention and malware analysis; cloud systems configuration and security; Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools and technology
      • Experience of security architecture principles and practices
      • Experience of budget planning, third party oversight and financial management
      • Certified Ethical Hacker, Relevant SANS, or equivalent cyber defence training
