2. Role Purpose

  • This role is focused on delivering operational security support to BAE Systems Digital Intelligence development networks, providing technical expertise and guidance to fast moving projects in an exciting and unique environment. The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp on core security concepts as well as some technical understanding of current security tools and technologies.
  • This role is perfect for someone trying to break in to cyber security, or someone who is already working in cyber security that wants to develop in to a manager/lead over the coming years. Business acumen and communication skills are important to this role, as you will be expected at times to interface with senior stakeholders, external auditors and business project leads.

Please note this position will involve working at the Manchetser office 3/4 days per week and the remaining time working from home

3. Common Role Accountabilities

  • Support the Information Security Lead in audits, assessments and reporting.
  • Understand and apply industry security regulations (NIST, JSP, SPF) to different networks and business areas.
  • Consume relevant threat intelligence feeds and highlight any key emerging risks when necessary.
  • Review and interpret logs and information from a variety of security tools (Splunk, Tanium).
  • Timely and effective processing of security helpdesk requests within defined SLA's.
  • Review and participate in change control boards.
  • Promote and provide security awareness for the company - ability to communicate confidently to stakeholders is key.
  • Validation of new technology solutions with regard to security and risk. Liaison with company experts and suppliers to ensure all vulnerabilities of new products/services and properly addressed using appropriate risk assessment technologies.
  • Ownership of Priority 4 security and service incidents through to resolution/remediation.
  • Vulnerability management (Patching, COTS & OS) assessment.
  • Promote high security standards and integrity.

4. Functional Requirements

Requirements:

  • A firm understanding of core security concepts and principles (CIA triad, risk management, compliance frameworks etc.)
  • Working knowledge and experience in developing and reporting performance and risk metrics (e.g., KPIs/KRIs - Status Reporting and Dashboard for senior management)
  • Previous security experience protective monitoring tools (Splunk)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within matrixed resources in a team environment
  • Possess strong organisational, time management and diplomacy skills
  • Independent tasking and project completion with little supervision is a must
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills as well as interpersonal skills to interact with users, team members and senior management
  • Excellent communications & MS Office skills;

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Desirable certifications include recognised professional security qualification/membership such as CompTIA Security+, CISMP, CCSP or equivalent.
  • Experience in Government/List X and Commercial security;
  • Ability to obtain a high level of Government Security Clearance;
  • Must be a UK National.
