DATA PROTECTION MANAGER

Location – Gloucester

Work Pattern – Hybrid

Part time or Full time.

As a Data Protection Manager you will be advising on and monitoring data protection obligations to ensure the Group's entities comply with applicable data protection legislation in the UK and relevant European (EEA) countries. To be responsible for promoting data protection compliance across the Group.

As a Data protection Manager your role will consist of

Serve as the point of contact for data protection queries.

Contribute to policy and standards, and develop procedures applicable to Group entities, ensuring continuing compliance with relevant data protection legislation.

Support, develop and deliver data protection training to colleagues to raise awareness and to ensure data protection knowledge remains up to date, understood, tailored and integrated with business needs.

Participate in data management fora and bodies as required.

Work collaboratively with leaders and their teams to help implement data protection best practice.

Prepare management reports on data protection issues and matters.

Ensure data protection risks and incidents are appropriately escalated in accordance with the Group's governance framework.

Support project sponsors and their teams to identify requirements and support solutions that ensure compliance with data protection legislation. Where necessary, advise on and contribute to data protection privacy impact assessments.

Serve as a lead advisor to management for breach response.

Support and monitor the fulfilment of rights requests.

Identify, interpret and apply current and emerging data protection legislation and relevant regulatory guidance.

Coordinate, conduct and monitor reviews of data protection compliance.

Work continuously to ensure that data protection becomes fully Embedded as a part of business as usual through the development of supportive and influential stakeholder relationships.

Data Protection Manager Skills and Experience

Educated to degree level with a demonstrable in–depth knowledge of UK and EU (Ireland) data protection law, for example BCS Practitioner, CIPP.

Experience of giving robust, practical and creative advice to enable business objectives in compliance with data protection law.

Experience in developing and delivering data protection training.

Ideally have experience working in a regulated industry. Knowledge of insurance is advantageous.

Sufficient knowledge of information technology and data management systems.

Experience of supporting and engaging effectively with projects and being part of project teams.

Well–developed and professional interpersonal skills; ability to interact effectively with people at all organisational levels including senior stakeholders to Board level.

Ability to simplify complex data protection matters to non–specialist audiences and constructively challenge views and information in support of business objectives.

Understanding of the processing operations carried out by financial services providers, with a particular emphasis on insurance and broking.

Ability to work unsupervised, lead by example and influence change.

Excellent writing and presentation skills.

Strong change and project management skills, including the ability to manage time well, prioritise effectively and handle multiple deadlines.

Ability to use independent judgement and discretion within a data protection team.

Great attention to detail to recommend and influence strategic improvements on a range of data protection issues.

Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with the appropriate discretion.

Proven track record in working in partnership with operational areas
