Technical Security Specialist - National Salary up to £60,000. London Salary up to £80,000.
This role is suited to someone with a few years' broad experience of information security with a good technical background who wants to take a step up and learn career building softer skills such as stakeholder management, management reporting, project management, managing suppliers and security governance.

A bit about the job:
General insurance is an exciting place. There is a large amount of change underway, whether using the latest cloud technologies or the plans to grow and digitise our approaches to Commercial insurance. There are always new things to learn and new challenges to tackle.

You will be reporting to the Security Lead for GI. You will be involved in a wide variety of the team's services, which could mean supporting architects, developers, or supplier relationship managers to make the right security decisions. You could also be performing business impact assessments, planning penetration tests, reviewing technical designs, or analysing technical security reports. You will also be assisting our stakeholders in the UK General Insurance Business and IT to make information security risk management decisions by providing your considered and pragmatic opinion.

Aviva uses "smart-working", and the person in this role can be based anywhere commutable to an Aviva office.

Skills and experience we're looking for:
  • 3+ years of dedicated information security experience, ideally 5+ years.
  • Can review architectural and solution designs and call out security issues, whether related to technology, people or process and then suggest pragmatic solutions.
  • Good working knowledge of security technologies e.g. firewalls, web application firewalls, cloud, web technology, secure development and working knowledge of prevailing security standards e.g. 27001, Cyber Essentials & SOGP.
  • Certification for information security such as CISSP, CISM or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate to technical staff, senior stakeholders and produce quality reports / documentation and to work independently and use initiative.
