Hays are partnering with a SME business based in Shepton Mallet to support with the recruitment for a permanent IT System Administrator. The role is a permanent vacancy, offering between £35,000 - £40,000pa (although there is some flexibility on salary for the right candidate). The role is hybrid working, 2 days on site per week with on site parking.

Within the role you will join the small IT infrastructure team to be responsible for the maintenance, ops, implementation and security of the organisations IT infrastructure systems. You will act as 2nd / 3rd line support dealing with escalations and troubleshooting providing technical solutions. You will also work closely with the Head of IT supporting the business with day-to-day IT activities and also working closely with the IT support engineers. You will support and maintain the on-prem server infrastructure and manage the technical services including Microsoft Azure and M365 platforms. You will also be involved in providing support from a cyber security and network perspective for the organisation.

To be considered for this role, you will need exposure as a 2nd / 3rd line infrastructure engineer / IT systems administrator. You will need to be a confident communicator with good soft skills and stakeholder engagement skills as the role is user facing. You will need good knowledge with general IT, server, network and desktop environments as well as exposure with on prem and cloud-based infrastructure and a knowledge around Windows and Microsoft 365. You will also ideally have knowledge on network / firewalls and cyber security.
