You are accountable for the implementation and operational delivery of an intelligence led response to customer security issues. You are accountable for the TaSC Discovery capability, leveraging tools, data and ringside seat to proactively find risks and vulnerabilities affecting our customers, our products and service & providing creative responses, while all the time supporting on incidents and events across various security areas.

What you'll be doing
  • Responsible for ensuring our customers are defended against threat attack vectors, actors and their tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs).
  • To be the leading subject matter expert in identifying security risks Consumer & Business products and services.
  • To deliver rapid, comprehensive and sound cyber security investigations.
  • Responsible for developing discovery strategies to identify and mitigate risks to the business.
  • Responsible for working across BT to effectively manage and support with customer security related events and incidents.
  • Ensures the effectiveness of the Trust & Safety Centre to minimise the impact of attacks upon our customers, our products and our services.
  • Responsible for continual improvement of BT's capability to operationally exploit tools and data to better protect our customers, our business and reputation.
  • Accountable to Chief Security Officer Consumer to ensure that the TaSC is effective, agile and responsive and that people, processes and technology are enabled to go beyond limits.
Skills Required For The Job
  • Technical Excellence:
    • Substantive knowledge of application and network security risks.
    • Have significant knowledge of network principles & protocols
    • You'll be using Microsoft KQL, SPLUNK & Python languages to analyse big data in relation to customer security incidents & investigations
    • You'll be utilising Microsoft Office apps at an advanced level. Experience of MS Azure would be desirable.
  • Calm & Decisive under pressure: effective at driving calm and effective response to customer security issues
  • Communication, Visual & Written skills: Very strong communication, visual & written skills. Ability to present to Senior Manager, Director level
  • Influencing skills: Ability to persuade, influence and motivate others, with the right sense of urgency, without having formal authority.
  • Building Relationships: Forming strong working relationships with other areas of the business to help increase security posture.
Experience You'd Be Expected to Have
  • Practical knowledge and experience of day to day Cyber security operations.
  • Excellent technical credentials, able to play a leading part in technically capable high performing and motivated teams.
  • Experienced in handling Cyber security threats and incidents.
  • Experience in engaging senior stakeholders to Senior Manager, Director levels
  • Comprehensive understanding of open source security tooling and information available on the internet.
  • Scripting and automation knowledge.
  • Typically qualified to degree level, or equivalent professional experience.
