About the role

Ensuring the inherent security in BT's architecture and services expected by our customers, and constantly appraising the risk BT faces from the wider connected world, this role assures the protection of BT Group's brands and reputation. As a Global Telecommunications carrier and provider, UK Critical National Infrastructure, this role's commitment to improve Security controls within BT Critical Business operational systems is vital to maintain operation of BT's day to day business, allowing the business to operate provision and maintain the UK BT network, Transmission, Access, Consumer and also supporting Openreach's deployment of NGA & G.Fast technologies for BDUK.

This role is fundamental to maintaining BT Network Management Systems Security posture, being proactive in identifying security issues and concerns and reducing risk as much as possible, whilst also being reactive when operations are threatened by issues above BT's threat and risk appetite.

What you'll be doing
  • Responsible for strategy and delivery of Remote access controls into BT's & UK's Critical Network & systems
  • Responsible for Identifying security risks, developing mitigation controls that reduce the possibility of the risks occurring
  • Responsible for ensuring security controls are factored into BT's architectural decisions and subsequently into the design and implementation of BT's remote user access for both BT employee and 3rd party/Vendor support teams access to BT networks and services
  • Accountable for 21CN DCN Network security including the control and management of the 200+ network management systems now hosted/connected to 21CN DCN
  • Accountable for the auditing and correction of 21CN user access provision
  • Strong influence and collaboration with CIS and Technology Identity provisioning team, on the architecture, design and delivery of the User access provisioning systems (CAMS & MUI)
  • Working closely and collaborating with the 21CN Interconnect team in securing BT's networks from unwanted system or user interconnect
  • Identifying improvement opportunities, validate and action those opportunities
  • Identifying and mitigating any security issues we find as part of the role, known locally as 'Patrol Faults' - Don't ignore it, If it's wrong make the team aware and fix it
  • Supporting other parts of the business with our knowledge and skills as required to support Commercial business with our customers
What you'll bring

Must Have:
  • Extensive background in security and technical disciplines
  • Broad technical knowledge, demonstrate proven experience on technologies and methodology
  • Understanding of complete End to End assessment of system security, from end user access to server technical compliance
  • Access control Policy knowledge, design and understanding of roles and responsibilities in a technical role
  • Technical background in large scale network & IT environments
  • Experience in technical decision making
Nice to have:
  • Strong telecomms knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of IT technologies Past, current and keeping abreast of the future (SDN/NFV/Docker/Virualisation etc etc)
  • Clear understanding of the Regulatory Compliance landscape and be able to act with decisive clarity when required to protect the business
  • strong skills in explaining complex technical situations pitched at a level the audience will understand backed up by relevant information and data
  • Good communication skills and ability to simplify complex problems and influence at a peer level to Improve security understanding of posture and controls used within the business
  • Demonstrable analytical skills to ensure technical risks are fully understood and mitigation solutions can be correctly identified and implemented at a system and local level as required
  • Time management skills
  • Appropriate security qualifications such as CISSP, CISSM
