Lead Security Architect: Part Time
Location: Remote (maybe seldom visit to a local site)
Rate: £700 - £800 per day
Duration: 5-6 months, part time 3 days per week
IR35: In scope
Clearance: SC Clearance is sought
Start: 05/06/23 +/-

The Infrastructure, Security and Service Architecture team provides the underpinning technology support for all other digital and technology services. This covers networking, device management, application hosting, cloud services, identity, architecting for simplified service operations and security by design.
You will provide consultancy, guidance, design, and assurance activities.

You will work with multiple projects and programmes, and potentially act as security lead for a technology or programme domain. This involves overseeing the security architecture for developing systems, whether they are developed in house or by third parties, ensuring alignment to principles and standards, and working with teams to implement and improve them.

You will operate within a pan government and industry aware context, ensuring new services, or modifications to existing services, meet the Minimum Cyber Security Standard, comply with our obligations under the Security Policy Framework and also comply with Obligation 6 of the Technology Code of Practice (TCOP) to "Make things Secure". This includes "secure by design" & ensuring "Privacy by Design" appropriate to the data being processed.

  • Responsibility for ensuring that designed solutions on the programmes and projects to which they are assigned are fit for purpose, meet security needs, and highlight any areas of deficiency or strategic conflict.
  • Expected to ensure the supporting infrastructure meets the security needs of the overall end to end solution i.e., the information, application, and technology aspects of the solution.
  • Design components of security architectures, in consultation with colleagues and stakeholders, which will enable the delivery of the required business outcomes and services.
  • Look forwards to identify common needs and gaps; whilst working with the wider team to influence technology roadmaps to improve security.
  • Create appropriate formal architecture products; whilst ensuring traceability and sufficient corporate knowledge to maintain support.
  • Actively support and contribute to the domain lead aspects of the team function by providing specialist insight and experience of one or more application technologies.
  • Monitor the analysis of a technical solution and ensure analysis is re-used for similar problem sets.
  • You have a deep understanding and can apply security concepts to a technical level. You can effectively translate and accurately communicate security and risk implications across technical and non-technical stakeholders. You can respond to challenge. You can manage stakeholders' expectations and be flexible, adapting to stakeholders' reactions to reach consensus.
