The role

As a Cloud & Infrastructure Security Engineer, you will build, administer, support, and maintain solutions, with a focus on the organisations AWS environment and cloud security.

You will be heavily involved in supporting the organisations cloud-based infrastructure, and primarily AWS, in addition to supporting colleagues on the organisations Azure and on-prem infrastructure. You will assist on the introduction of any new solutions built on AWS, the maintenance of current infrastructure, and cyber security across the organisations AWS and Azure cloud.

In addition, you will ensure cloud services are integrated, delivered, secured and operated as required and recommend security controls, advise on important security-related technologies and assess the risk associated with proposed changes. You will work with the PIE and Head of IT to translate and implement architectural designs into operations, provide input into overall management - workforce, budget, technology roadmaps, projects and tasks, and work with Service Desk to ensure timely resolution of tickets for cloud infrastructure services and provide guidance and support.

Your profile

  • Significant knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure and System Design (designing, implementing, testing, and supporting cloud-based infrastructure technologies)
  • Extensive knowledge and experience Azure, AWS (Infrastructure as Code, AWS Security, monitoring, and automation) and AWS best practices
  • Knowledge and experience with AWS project implementation and working collaboratively with Data Teams
  • Core developer skills- version control, scripting (Bash, Python)
  • Knowledge and experience working in or in conjunction with SOC- a strong focus on cloud security resolving security related incidents and mitigating threats, monitoring vulnerabilities, applying patches & configuration changes, working with security controls
  • Experience in initiating and monitoring actions to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems, including 3rd line escalations, consulting specialists where required and implementing preventative measures.
  • Experience in technical concepts with an understanding of how they fit into the wider technical landscape
  • Knowledge and experience investigating and resolving incidents/problems escalated through the Service Desk, Applications and Security teams and providing guidance and support.


Communication

  • It is essential you can communicate advice clearly and persuasively and can present compelling arguments both written and spoken.
  • You will have experience in building good relationships at all levels across stakeholder groups and partner organisations
  • You will be able to work effectively in cross-functional teams with both business and technical stakeholders
