Study: Apprentices will complete on-the-job training at Glenrothes, Fife & also study at Heriot-Watt University for the duration of the apprenticeship.

Assessment Centre Dates: 2nd & 3rd July 2024 (candidates need to be available on this day for interviews and assessment day. Details to be discussed with successful applicants).

The graduate level apprenticeship is a 4-year programme, with the one day per week spent at Heriot Watt University and the other days at our Glenrothes manufacturing facility on rotational assignments in each of the production areas and support teams.
This apprenticeship leads to an Honours Degree in Electronic or Mechanical Engineering. (BEng (Hons) Engineering Design and Manufacture)

Main Duties:
  • Work alongside engineers, from a variety of disciplines, to meet the manufacturing engineering department's goals and objectives
  • Learn and implement lean manufacturing principles and root cause and corrections actions
  • Support the development of new manufacturing processes and products
  • Work with cutting-edge technology and be part of our Industry 4.0 transformation
  • Work with production staff to identify improvement opportunities and solve problems affecting manufacturing
  • Generate manufacturing documentation, risk assessments and tooling reports
  • Support production teams to meet their safety, on-time delivery and cost of poor quality targets
Apprenticeship Programme:
On joining Raytheon UK, you will undertake a structured four-year apprenticeship programme which will incorporate theoretical study at university in electronic or mechanical engineering. Experiential learning, throughout the four years, will be undertaken in the four years, on-site at Glenrothes, on rotational assignments in each of the production areas and support teams.
Each apprentice is assigned an experienced engineer as a mentor and will be linked in with an existing apprentice as a buddy, to ensure they have access to help and support, as required.
Salary will be reviewed twice annually throughout the apprenticeship and apprentices will be eligible for company bonus scheme as well as other company benefits.

Candidate Requirements:
  • SQA Highers at BBBB including Mathematics, plus Physics or similar
  • SQA HNC in an engineering discipline (or relevant Modern/Technical Apprenticeship) with Engineering Mathematics 1 & 2 (or equivalent)
  • A-Levels at BBC including Mathematics, plus Physics or similar
  • Foundation Apprenticeship in Engineering in conjunction with SQA Highers at BBB* including Mathematics
  • A combination of qualifications totalling 96 SCQF credits at level 6 or
  • Minimum 106 UCAS point
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to use initiative
  • Able to work well in teams
  • Able to communicate well, both written and verbal
  • Good at problem solving
Successful candidates need to be eligible for SAAS funding, see link below for details to check eligibility.

Candidates need to be available to attend an assessment centre on either 2nd or 3rd July.
