Job Description

The IT Security team is responsible for proactively identifying threats, security gaps and vulnerabilities across a number of different systems. The team are trained in incident response and analysing anomalies on the network. In addition, the team will work closely with the Information Security, IT Operations and Software teams to ensure that we have robust processes and that our infrastructure and systems are safe and secure.

Our IT team deliver a 360 degree service to the growing BW team including Helpdesk, IT Support, IT Operations, IT Security, Software Development, IT Projects, IT Project Delivery, Quality Assurance and Projects, and Data Science.

  • Continuously monitor security systems, logs and alerts to identify and respond to potential security incidents
  • Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify weaknesses in the IT infrastructure
  • Collaborate with internal IT Operations and Software Development teams, whilst also liaising with external parties to organise penetration testing
  • Adhere to incident response plans and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Review security architecture and current configurations and identify new ways to improve these
  • Study the current threat landscape and TTPs and act accordingly
  • Ensure that all endpoints are securely configured and comply with security policies
  • Work with the Information security team to ensure compliance with security and information management standards and guidance material, specifically for ISO27001, Cyber Essentials+, and AAF 1/20 certification and accreditations

  • Strong fundamental understanding of computer networking across LAN's and WAN's
  • Experience with incident response and reacting to security alerts
  • Familiarity with vulnerability management tooling and applying critical patches in a timely manner
  • Managing various platforms including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Defender for Endpoint and others
  • Knowledge of SIEM solutions, analysing logs and identifying abnormal behaviour
  • The ability to recognise misconfigurations across an array of different systems and advise on best practices
  • Prioritise workloads depending on severity levels of different alerts and incidents
  • Proactive mindset and the ability to work in a team
  • Knowledge of Offensive security or Incidence response would be an advantage

  • 5 GCSEs (graded A* to C or 9 to 5) or equivalent including English/Math's
  • CompTIA Network+ and Security+ (or equivalent) as a minimum requirement
  • OCSP, CCNA or CISSP certification is desirable
