We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Pharmacist-Governance and MSO to join our Pharmacy department at The London Clinic, based at our main hospital site in London (W1G 6JA). We are offering a competitive salary range (Band 8a NHS equivalent) starting from £60,848 per annum dependant on experience.

Job Profile

As the Lead Pharmacist you will act as the governance lead for the London Clinic pharmacy and oversee all governance activities in line with the Clinic's governance framework as well as national guidelines.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday; 9am-5.30pm
  • Job Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations).
  • Salary: Band 8a NHS equivalent

Key Duties
  • To act as the Medication Safety Officer (MSO) for The London Clinic
  • To oversee Clinical audit
  • Incident management (day to day immediate response)
  • Incident investigations (e.g. RCA)
  • Taking the lead for pharmacy at the medicines safety group as well as other working groups and local team/quality meetings
  • Representation into the wider London Clinic committee structure including; operational handover meetings, Incidents and Practice Review Group (IPRG), Quality Review Group (QRG), governance basics, ward managers etc.
  • Quality improvement
  • Policy management
  • Clinical effectiveness (NICE reviews against our policy, safety update, accreditations, CQC etc.)
  • Risk management, clinical and non-clinical (risk register, H&S risk assessments, COSHH etc.)
  • Lead the pharmacy department's preparation and compliance for CQC visits

Skills and experience
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience of measuring and evaluating outcomes in order to secure improvement.
  • Experience of implementing service improvements
  • Experience of managing risk associated with service change.
  • Experience of using and developing professional competency frameworks
  • Evidence of breadth of clinical experience in various specialties
  • A minimum of 5 years post registration experience in a hospital pharmacy.
  • Completed comprehensive rotations in hospital Pharmacy.
  • Experience of working effectively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Developing and writing policies/procedures/guidelines
  • Facilitation and tutoring of pharmacy staff
