Snowfields Academy has an opportunity for an Exams and Local Compliance Officer to join our exams department in delivering the successful provision for exams across the whole school. Our successful candidate will be able to demonstrate prior experience in the organisation and administration of both external and internal examinations including entry, delivery and analysis of data, and management of the invigilation team. This key position plays a pivotal role in the success of our students' progress and is a busy and varied role.

The Exams Officer will liaise with school staff regarding entries will manage the daily running of the exams and must be comfortable in leading, guiding and directing staff and students in respect of the exams provision. It is highly desirable that applicants have experience and working knowledge in accordance with the examination regulations within schools or colleges, are proficient users of exam software and, perhaps, have further experience in admissions.

What does the role involve? The main aim of this role is to manage the effective and efficient administration of external examinations in accordance with the Joint Council for Qualifications regulations. This will involve providing a comprehensive support service to the academy including:
  • Entering pupils for public examinations using electronic data interchange where possible and ensuring a manual backup and liaising with Exams Managers/Officers at all Trust Schools to ensure entries are made and results are forwarded.
  • Production of timetable for students, staff and parents
  • Advise SLT of timetable classes so that appropriate supervision and rooms can be arranged
  • Book external invigilators and create invigilation timetable
  • Start and finish all exams both public and internal

This is a permanent role offering an actual salary of £22,163 (£24,789 full time equivalent) based on 37.5 hours per week, Term Time + 2 week inset.

In September 2022 will opened an additional Campus at Cranbrook. When full we will offer 240 places across year groups 7-13 for young people who are working at or close to age-related expectations. Class sizes are small with 12/13 in each class, supported by 2-3 teaching assistants according to need. We offer a range of GCSEs and other qualifications for young people on a blend of academic and vocational pathways.

The academy benefits from being a brand new school with a design tailored to the students it provides for, carefully considered to make the most of both its inside and outside environments in order to enhance the learning of its students. The environment supports specialisms in horticulture and catering at Bearsted with a Cafe and Teaching kitchen and horticulture facilities at Bearsted and a working farm at Cranbrook. We will work closely with local businesses to offer an outstanding range of work experience opportunities and supported internships.
