Our Sanctions Advisory and Assurance Unit, which forms part of Financial Crime Compliance in the Group Compliance organisation, is growing and we are now looking for new colleagues. We are looking for professionals with experience in sanctions to join our Sanctions Advisory team to work on ensuring integrity across the Bank's participation in our financial markets and in society in general. As a Compliance Officer, you will broadly contribute with your comprehensive sanctions experience and knowledge to ensure the Bank complies with the relevant sanctions laws and regulations.
You will be based at the Group's office in Helsinki (Finland).
Your tasks and responsibilities will include among other things:
Success Criteria as Compliance Officer
The job requires collaboration in the Financial Crime Compliance unit locally and globally, but also with Group-wide Business Units, branches, legal entities, Compliance and other supporting functions (Audit, Risk, IT etc.). You will join a unit of 20 professionals across different jurisdictions, where the growth of the unit is based on solid collaboration. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with people at all levels of the Bank is necessary.
Integrity and perseverance provides the mind-set to succeed at the job at hand. Doing the right thing mentality and aspiring to be a part of a sound compliance culture is key.
The unit operates in a busy and continuously evolving regulatory environment. Willingness to stay up-to-date of the latest regulatory changes, as well as readiness to learn and change the Group are appreciated. Capability to search and find new information, assess and evaluate it effectively and put it into practise is vital for this role. Adaptability, innovativeness, and flexibility are beneficial.
Majority of the tasks requires sanctions compliance subject matter expertise, specifically the impact of relevant sanctions regimes, laws, regulations, risks and typologies on the Bank's sanctions compliance program.

As a Compliance Officer, you will broadly contribute with your comprehensive sanctions experience and knowledge to ensure the Bank complies with the relevant sanctions laws and regulations.
You will be based at the Group's office in Helsinki (Finland).
Your tasks and responsibilities will include among other things:
- As a Second Line of Defence (2LOD) subject matter expert in the field of sanctions compliance, maintaining an overview of all relevant sanctions laws and regulations, keeping abreast of current expertise in regulatory requirements and industry trends and ensuring the Bank meets its sanctions related regulatory requirements;
- Supporting 2LOD sanctions advisory processes for the Group and in doing so appropriately assessing risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the Group's reputation and safeguarding it, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with relevant laws and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behaviour, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency;
- Conducting multijurisdictional investigations and advising on complex transactions, as well as providing input on new business initiatives and products;
- Providing oversight of deviations, incidents, breaches, and exceptions reported and applied by the First Line of Defense (1LoD);

- Contributing to the development and maintenance of Policies, Instructions, Standard Operating Procedures, Guidelines etc. which reflects the Bank's sanctions compliance approach;
- Contributing to the development of sanctions related controls aligned the Bank's sanctions compliance approach;
- Building and carrying out Group-wide awareness and training in the area of sanctions compliance;
- Produce management information (MI) against key metrics related to management of sanctions risk to ensure timely and accurate reporting of key compliance risks and other issues to various governance forums;
- Forming part of the SME team carrying out sanctions assurance projects and deep dives, i.e. sanctions evasion/circumvention.

- As a Compliance Officer, experience of 3-5 years from a similar role is highly desirable;
- With this in mind, a relevant Master's degree and previous experience in a sanctions compliance related control environment, as part of a compliance, legal or other control-related function in the financial services firm, regulatory organization/government body, or legal/consulting firm, or combination thereof is highly desirable;
- Great project management and organizational skills and capability to handle multiple projects/tasks at one time is beneficial;
- Fluency in spoken and written Finnish and English is required;
- Specific FI relevant market related experience and knowledge is desirable.
