About the UW standards & governance team
Our job is to ensure the regulatory adherence of all products throughout their life cycle at Hiscox. We are responsible for all products sold through all distribution channels as per the Product governance sourcebook (PROD) - in the creation of new products, changing existing products and the product review process.
An effective product governance framework is not only key to ensuring regulatory adherence but also helping to deliver sustainable profits, customer retention and satisfaction.
The UW standards and governance team cover a broad range of roles and responsibilities, from product development and governance roles to underwriting control. We work closely a wide array of internal and external stakeholders, including underwriting management, operational teams, product heads, legal, conduct, and compliance.
The role
Our products and distribution channels continue to evolve and grow. The role will continue to build our central expertise to support this growth within our internal minimum standards and broader regulatory requirements.
The Product analytics lead is a senior position in the team supporting the product and underwriting governance manager. They own the annual review plan, the creation and maintenance of the product register and annual review dashboard. The role is also responsible for the submission of change and proposition forms into the product governance team and the maintenance and tracking of the process - this includes our schemes and e trade teams.
You will be responsible for the compilation and analysis of the annual reviews of each of our core lines of business, including open market products and schemes. This role will include responsibility for the end-to-end creation, analysis, action tracking and sign off of each product.
You will review the performance of the product against the expected performance, including financial performance, conduct considerations, target market and distribution strategy.
You will be responsible for collating the Product & Underwriting Governance reports for the various boards and board reporting. This includes working with colleague across Claims, Complaints, Distribution and Underwriting Controls to collate and understand information to inform the boards and meet our governance and regulatory obligations.
You will work with the Product & Underwriting Governance Manager to manage our internal binding agreements with the Hiscox carriers. This spans our insurance company and Lloyd's capacity. This will include working on endorsements to the agreements, regular reporting and ensuring the agreements support Hiscox UK to meet it's business goals. This will involve working with senior underwriting stakeholders across the business.
This role will work with our Compliance and Conduct teams to find pragmatic real world solutions to new regulatory requirements and will support ad-hoc Underwriting Governance projects.
The ideal person for this role will be motivated, organised, with great stakeholder management skills and previous experience in underwriting, product or underwriting governance and/or conduct. Strong excel skills and the use of Power BI is a must.
