Subject descriptionLund University GIS Centre at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science is going to expand its research activities in Geospatial Artificial Intelligence. A prject assistant within research is going to be employed to help with the ongoing research.

Work dutiesThe project assistant will be expected to conduct research within the subject GeoAI, with a particular focus on deep learning model development using large volumes of GIS and remote sensing data. Other duties involve data collection and preparation for the model development.

Qualification requirements

Applicants must have:
  • Master's degree in GIS and remote sensing.
  • Knowledge of developing deep learning models using large volumes of data in different applications, such as object detection and time series forecasting.
  • Experience with geospatial data analysis in cloud computing platforms.
  • Very good programming skills (e.g. Python, JavaScript, R).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Documented skills and research experiences in GeoAI.
  • Knowledge about Generative AI.
  • Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
  • Team-work spirit.

Assessment criteria and other qualificationsAssessment will be conducted based on the above-mentioned qualifications of the applicants. Consideration will also be given to good collaborative skills, and how the applicant's experience and skills complement and strengthen ongoing research within the department, and how they stand to contribute to its future development.

Terms of employmentFixed term employment fulltime for four months. Prefered starting date September 16th 2024 or according to agreement.
